Daniel Carcillo is eligible to return from his two-game suspension on Thursday night.
However, coach Joel Quenneville may decide to play him on the fourth line against Florida because Viktor Stalberg has netted three goals in the past two games on the top line with Jonathan Toews and Andrew Brunette. Carcillo had been playing with Patrick Kane and Marian Hossa prior to his suspension, but his return to that combination would leave Patrick Sharp out of the top six if Stalberg remains on the first unit.

Daniel Carcillo thinks that he received a two-game suspension primarily because of his reputation.
Carcillo hit Carolina's Joni Pitkanen on Friday and although there was no penalty on the play, Carcillo wasn't allowed to play Saturday and he will serve the second half of his suspension on Monday. "There's not too much leeway for me in this league," Carcillo said. "I'm giving some serious thought to changing my last name." Carcillo has been handed five suspensions by the NHL over the course of his career.

Daniel Carcillo was suspended for two games for an illegal hit on the Hurricanes' Joni Pitkanen Friday night.
He missed Saturday night's contest against the Blue Jackets and will sit out Monday's game against Nashville. So much for Carcillo's good behaviour this season. For what is it worth, the Hawks maintain the hit into the boards was legal.

The Chicago Blackhawks have been thrilled with the play of Daniel Carcillo.
Carcillo has maintained his spot on the second line with Patrick Kane and Marian Hossa despite having not put the puck in the net nor getting into a fight. "You see Kane's highlight a lot but Danny was driving the net and distracting the goalie and defenseman," coach Joel Quenneville said about a beautiful goal from Kane. "I don't think he's that one-dimensional guy who just provides energy. He has skill, ability, and he'll get better playing with those guys once he's more familiar with them." Look for a 30 point season from Carcillo and 125-150 penalty minutes.

Daniel Carcillo wants to be a more complete player this season.
Carcillo is known primarily as a physical forward who spends a ton of time in the sin bin. However, Carcillo wasn't very happy with the fact that he only recorded six points last season. He wants to contribute more offensively, and he has an opportunity to do so now that he's playing on a line with Marian Hossa and Patrick Kane. That being said, even in a good season and on a scoring line, we have trouble seeing Carcillo get more than 30 points.

Daniel Carcillo is asking his linemates Marian Hossa and Patrick Kane a lot of questions about their habits on the ice.
You have to like a teammate who is willing to learn so much and that is Carcillo this season. "Chemistry doesn't happen overnight," Kane said. "I think we're still figuring out the positions on the ice in the offensive zone, what we're going to do when we get the puck. But with him on our line, he's going to create more distraction from the other team. That's good for me and Hoss. It gives us space, and we can work off that." This could be the makings of quite a line. Carcillo will continue to get his penalty minutes but if he remains on the second line, he could hit the 30 point mark.

Daniel Carcillo was a huge factor in the Blackhawks 4-3 win on Thursday.
It was Carcillo's first regular season game for Chicago and he sparkled on a line with Marian Hossa and Patrick Kane. He chipped in with an assist while the line had six points. Carcillo was all over the ice, playing an energy game and actually wouldn't take the challenge of Mark Stuart who wanted to fight. "That's my game: playing the body, getting fans into it early and getting the team into it early," Carcillo said. "I usually wouldn't walk away from that (on his potential fight with Stuart). But after a minute, 20 (seconds) on the ice I'm not going to engage on the fight." Carcillo is worth selecting in pools that use penalty minutes as a category as he will get into fights, despite last night.

Daniel Carcillo has continued to skate on a line with Marian Hossa and Patrick Kane during Chicago's practices.
Carcillo is expected to stay on that line for his season debut on Thursday. This is an interesting opportunity for Carcillo, although we don't think it will significantly increase his fantasy value. Carcillo's offensive upside is limited, but he could spend 150-200 minutes in the sin bin this season.
