Brown made 58 appearances last season for the Sharks and Canadiens, but was only able to tally five points while averaging a meager 7:13 in ice time per game. In terms of fantasy, the winger's best contribution comes in the form of PIM after he spent 90 minutes in the Sin Bin, which gives him bottom-end value and should keep him off the radar of most owners.

Montreal was officially eliminated from the playoffs with the loss, so we'll see if that reality has any impact on how head coach Michel Therrien chooses to use his vetarans vis-a-vis the young forwards on the roster. Brown has been in the active lineup most nights and gives an honest effort, which carries some weight with the coach. If he continues to get ice time and fantasy owners can use Brown's style -- the nine-year veteran has 23 PIM and 51 hits in 12 games with Montreal -- you'll get someone who doesn't hold back and is motivated to play for his next contract.

Brown took part in Friday's optional practice, but his status for Saturday's game against the Rangers has not been confirmed. The 30-year-old, who was the first star in Tuesday's win over the Ducks, brings more value in PIM. Since joining the Habs 11 games ago, Brown has 23 minutes in penalties.

Well, that's uncommon, to say the least. Brown had only three points in 53 games coming into Tuesday's action, but if you somehow bet the house on him scoring his second goal of the year -- not to mention another point to boot -- you'd have won a whole row of mansions. The 36-year-old enforcer's fantasy value is typically limited to hits and PIM, and he doesn't even rack up too many of those anymore.

Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin admitted he's been unhappy with the way the team has been pushed around this season and the acquisition of Brown should help remedy that. Brown, who had three hits Monday, has 751 penalty minutes in 394 career games.

The enforcer had stuck around in San Jose for a while, but it seems to be time for the NHL's best mustache to move on to different pastures. We'll see if he gets opportunities to bring his PIM-and-hits combo to bear with Les Habs; if he does, owners in leagues that utilize those categories will be well served to pay attention.

Brown will come out with Dainius Zubrus getting fully healthy. Brown's fantasy utility remains very limited. Even if you're just looking for someone who can deliver penalty minutes, there are likely better options out there. Brown isn't in the lineup consistently, and he's hardly on the ice enough to accumulate penalty minutes. Over the last eight games he's had a high of 7:16 in a game and has played as little as 3:18.
