Eakin, who sustained a lower-body injury in Sunday's game against the Senators, took to the ice Tuesday ahead of a road clash with the Predators, David Schoen of the Las Vegas Review Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eakin is the unfortunate one to have absorbed an illegal hit to the head from Ottawa defenseman Mark Borowiecki in Sunday's game. However, as suggested by Schoen, it's a good sign that Vegas' third-line center was back on the ice with his teammates and talking to assistant coach Ryan McGill in the latest session. Eakin has three goals and four points total over eight games this season. It'll be worth checking back to see if he's able to take warmups.

Eakin (lower body) was taken off injured reserve Wednesday, clearing the way for him to suit up against the Capitals, David Schoen of the Las Vegas Review Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
In order to make room for Eakin under the 23-man roster limit, the Golden Knights designated Paul Stastny (undisclosed) for injured reserve. The 27-year-old Eakin will make his season debut in a third-line center role, but could certainly challenge Erik Haula for the spot being vacated by Stastny.

Eakin (lower body) is expected to make his season debut Wednesday against Washington, David Schoen of the Las Vegas Review Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eakin missed the first three games of the campaign due to a lower-body injury, but he was a full participant in Tuesday's practice, which was the first sign he was likely closing in on a return to game action. The 27-year-old pivot, who notched 11 goals and 27 points last season, will probably take on a bottom-six role against the Capitals.

Eakin (lower body) shed his no-contact jersey for Tuesday's morning session, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is a clear sign of progress for Eakin, who is expected to return next week. Vegas hasn't gotten off to the best start shorthanded -- it has allowed two man-advantage goals through eight penalty-killing chances -- and Eakin seems to be the piece that the club misses dearly amid a 1-2-0 opening to the 2018-19 campaign. Last year, the Winnipeg native averaged 1:43 on the power play and 1:37 shorthanded, adding 11 goals and 16 assists over 80 regular-season games.

Golden Knights GM George McPhee said Eakin is "more week to week than day to day," Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eakin will start the season on injured reserve, so he'll miss at least the next four games. When healthy, the Winnipeg native can be deployed in a number of game situations, including the power play and penalty kill. Eakin generated 11 goals and 16 assists to complement a shorthanded goal and another pair of shorthanded apples with Vegas last season. Ryan Carpenter should occupy Eakin's third-line center spot until he is ready to return.

Eakin (lower body) was designated for injured reserve, David Schoen of the Las Vegas Review Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eakin's placement of IR ensures that he won't be in the lineup for Opening Night. The club has yet to provide a timeline for the Winnipeg native's recovery, so it's unclear how long he might be sidelined. In the meantime, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare should slot into the fourth-line center role.

Eakin is dealing with a lower-body issue that could keep him sidelined for Opening Night against the Flyers on Oct. 4, David Schoen of the Las Vegas Review Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Coach Gerard Gallant didn't provide a ringing endorsement for Eakin to be ready in time saying, "I sure hope so, but I don't know,". It should be noted, the bench boss is notoriously tight lipped regarding injuries, so it's possible he is just playing his usual games with the media. What is certain is that Eakin won't be in the lineup against Colorado on Monday after missing out on practice.

Eakin was held pointless in the final two series of the 2018 Stanley Cup playoffs.
EDGE Analysis
As a penalty-killing specialist not known to have a natural scoring touch, it's not all that surprising that the Jets and Capitals shut him down offensively. However, every Stanley Cup-winning team needs an unsuspecting hero (or three) in order to win a championship; perhaps no one knows that better than bottom-six grinder Devante Smith-Pelly, whose seven playoff goals matched his regular-season output in 51 fewer games. Eakin has two years on his contract with Vegas before he can test the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

Eakin scored an empty-net goal in Sunday's 3-0 series win over the Sharks.
EDGE Analysis
Ryan Carpenter passed up a prime scoring opportunity on an odd-man rush to selflessly give Eakin his third goal of these playoffs. As a third-line pivot, Eakin proved to be an X-factor throughout the conference semifinals and even doled out 22 hits to help the expansion team assert itself physically.

Eakin opened the scoring for the Golden Knights on Thursday en route to a 7-0 win over the Sharks in Game 1 of the conference semifinals.
EDGE Analysis
Eakin engaged the home crowd with a beautiful deflection that originated as a Brayden McNabb wrister from just inside the blue line. Perhaps more offense was expected from the third-line center given the grandiose scoring display from Vegas, but Eakin should remain a quality option in playoff pools since the Golden Knights have been unstoppable.
