Eakin was the primary distributor on James Neal's second goal. The top-six pivot won't forget about this one, as he was pitted against his former team for the first regular-season contest in the history of the Golden Knights franchise. It's strange to see a forward get that much ice time in a regulation contest, but then again, Vegas wants to prove it can be a competitive team from the start.

Eakin was reportedly selected by the Golden Knights, per Jim Toth of TSN 1290.

After missing the start of the season, Eakin struggled to find his scoring touch as he registered a paltry three goals and nine helpers in 60 outings. No doubt general manager George McPhee will be hoping the center returns to his 2015-16 form in which he garnered 35 points. Even if the 26-year-old can rediscover his game, he likely won't see as much of ice time that he did last year with Dallas -- 16:49 per game.

Eakin was left exposed by the Stars for Wednesday's expansion draft.

After a down year in which he scored just three goals and 12 points through 60 games, the Stars opted not to protect the 26-year-old center. With few centers available to Las Vegas, Eakin could be an alluring draft pick.

Eakin has struggled producing points since returning from injury. His recent streak was good to see, but there are still concerns with adding him to your roster. He's not seeing power play time and his shot rate is lower than in past years.

Eakin scored the only Dallas goal during Thursday's loss to Minnesota.

While Eakin has been limited to just 37 games this season, this was also only his second goal. After a respectable three-year stretch where he averaged 17 goals and 36.6 points per season, Eakin's two tallies and eight points aren't moving the fantasy needle in 2016-17. He is capable of providing an uptick in production over the coming weeks, but he'll always be more of a meat-and-potatoes players than a scorer, so it's best to take a wait-and-see approach.

Eakin potted his first goal of the year, complementing it with an assist and seven PIM in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the Rangers.

The 25-year-old winger got to skate with Jamie Benn and Patrick Eaves, and he responded with a Gordie Howe hat trick -- a goal, an assist and a fight. That doubled his 2016-17 point total in one night, as he'd managed just two assists over his prior 23 contests. He's really tormented the Blueshirts, as Eakin ran over Henrik Lundqvist the last time these teams met, and he ran the Swedish netminder out of this game by scoring the Stars' seventh goal late in the second period. Unfortunately for his fantasy owners, the Stars and Rangers don't meet too often.

Eakin (suspension) can return to the lineup against Colorado on Thursday after serving out his four-game ban.

EDGE Analysis

Given the number of injuries in Dallas, Eakin figures to return to the lineup right away. It has been a difficult 2016-17 campaign for the center as he has been on the ice for just 14 games due to injuries and the suspension. Even when he has played, the 25-year-old has not produced at his usual level, recording just one helper, 17 PIM and a minus-7 rating. Unless he can turn it around quickly, it is doubtful Eakin will register a fourth consecutive season with 35+ points.

Eakin was suspended for four games on Friday for his hit against Henrik Lundqvist on Thursday.

EDGE Analysis

With only one point in 14 games, Eakin hasn't been lighting the lamp enough to be on many people's fantasy radar. For those who have been keeping an eye on him, he will be out until the Dec. 29 game against Colorado.

Eakin will hear from the league Friday afternoon for charging Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist in Thursday night's game.

Lundqvist attempted to control the puck from behind the net, only for Eakin to level the netminder to the ice and send his mask flying. Fortunately, Lundqvist was able to return to the game, but the massive hit begs clarification from the NHL's Department of Player Safety on what exactly is considered fair game when it concerns contact with netminders outside of the crease.

Eakin was again held without a point in Sunday's loss to Chicago. He did however, lead the team with five hits.

Since returning from injury, Eakin has struggled to put points on the board. After a 16-goal, 35-point campaign last year, Eakin has just a single assist in 12 games and is averaging only a shot per game. Accordingly, his ice time has dwindled, making him not quite as good of a roster option as he was last year.
