Clarke MacArthur registered an assist on Saturday. MacArthur now has four points in eight games this season. At the same time, he still hasn't found the back of the net, making this the longest season-opening goal scoring slump of his career. He should break out of that slump and it will probably happen sooner rather than later. He can be penciled in for about 15-20 goals and 40-50 points this season.

Clarke MacArthur has not scored in the Senators' first seven games. It is the longest period he has waited to score his first goal of the season in his seven years in the NHL. The good news is that MacArthur is playing decently and is keeping a positive attitude. He also has registered three assists. Sens' coach Paul MacLean had nice things to say about MacArthur on Friday. "He's been very impressive, as advertised. He's a veteran player in the league, he can play in all situations. He's a player who the coach can put anywhere and really trust him." If you are counting on MacArthur be patient.

Clarke MacArthur isn't fond of his final days in Toronto and his lack of a relationship with former coach Randy Carlyle had a lot to do with that. "I didn't have a relationship with him, and not many guys do," MacArthur said of Carlyle. "He runs the show there, and everyone knows that, and that's the way it is. It's worked for him in the past, he's got a Cup from that, but at the same time there's other ways to do things, too." He didn't like being scratched in the playoffs either and knew he was done with the Maple Leafs once that happened. MacArthur signed a two-year deal with Ottawa in the summer and he'll play against his ex-teammates and Carlyle on Saturday night.

Clarke MacArthur potted a goal from Kyle Turris in Monday's exhibition win over Calgary. The two of them are expected to play on Ottawa's second line this season. "I think you want to get chemistry," MacArthur said. "Whether that's (with Turris) or maybe things change, but obviously I'm enjoying playing with him and every day you try and build and you know we've been talking a lot in practice, trying to figure things out, so I think it's getting better."

Toronto GM Dave Nonis said that he "would not rule out bringing Clarke [MacArthur] back." MacArthur can become an unrestricted free agent in July if a new deal isn't reached with the Maple Leafs. He had eight goals and 20 points in 40 games during the regular season and three points in five contests in the playoffs. Nonis added that the Leafs haven't made much progress with any of their potential UFAs and RFAs yet.
