Tanev did not practice Friday after showing symptoms of mumps, but still may be able to play Saturday's game against the Sharks, Matthew Sekeres of TSN 1040 reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tanev is one of five players to be displaying mumps symptoms of some kind, but the only one who has not been completely ruled out for Saturday's contest. The Canucks lineup is already in disarray as a result of this mumps outbreak in addition to other previous injuries, so the team will be hoping that at least Tanev will be able to go.

Tanev scored the overtime-winning goal Saturday against the Flames.
EDGE Analysis
It was a great sequence from Tanev, who jumped into the play and sniped a shot past Brian Elliott. The 27-year-old, who logged 22:22 of ice time in the victory, has focused on defense this season, but his overtime winner proves he still has that offensive touch. His six points and lack of power-play production make him not worth your time in most fantasy leagues. Tanev is far more valuable to the Canucks than he is to fantasy owners.

Tanev has just five assists in 29 games this season.
EDGE Analysis
Tanev remains a solid blueliner, but the offense has disappeared this season. He's yet to score a goal and his last point came in mid-January against Philadelphia. The 27-year-old was never known for being a huge offensive contributor, but he had posted three straight seasons around the 20-point range, so the consistency was there. The emergence of offensive blueliners Ben Hutton and Troy Stecher has taken the pressure off Tanev and helped him feel comfortable staying back, so it's best to avoid him in fantasy.

Tanev (upper body) will return to Vancouver's lineup for Tuesday's game against the Predators.
EDGE Analysis
Tanev's return to action will bolster the Canucks' depth at defense, but his limited offensive upside -- four points in 18 games this season -- keeps him from being a useful option in most season-long fantasy formats. The veteran blueliner is expected to skate with Luca Sbisa on Vancouver's second pairing in Tuesday's contest.

Tanev (upper body) will make the trip to Nashville, hinting at a Tuesday return, Irfaan Gaffar of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old missed Saturday's game after leaving Friday's game with an upper body injury. He has four assists and no goals in 18 games this year, so he isn't much of a fantasy threat even if he suits up in Nashville.

Tanev (upper body) has been ruled out for Saturday's road game against the Flames, Sportsnet's John Shannon reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tanev sustained his injury in Friday's home game against Calgary. He'll get a nice three-day break for rehab before the team will need to make a decision on his availability for the next game, a road match against the Predators. Alex Biega will replace him in the meantime.

Tanev will not return after sustaining an upper-body injury in Friday's game against the Flames, Jeff Paterson of TSN 1040 reports.
EDGE Analysis
The oft-injured defenseman exited after taking only six even-strength shifts. Given that the Canucks will play the Flames again on Saturday -- this time on the road -- it shouldn't be too long before Tanev is reevaluated. He's unofficially day-to-day until more information is released.

Tanev (ankle) will make his triumphant return against the Lightning on Friday after missing 20 consecutive outings.
EDGE Analysis
Tanev has been out of the lineup since Nov. 2 against the Canadiens. Prior to getting hurt, the blueliner was averaging 20:10 of ice time per night, including 2:15 on the penalty kill. The 26-year-old tallied a lone assist in his seven contests this year and may struggle to repeat his 18-point 2015-16 campaign after missing so much time.

Tanev (ankle) has a chance of playing Friday's home game against the Lightning, per coach Willie Desjardins.
EDGE Analysis
While there is certainly nothing definitive behind this statement, it's an encouraging sign for the hard-nosed defender's likelihood of playing after he's missed the last 20 games to this injury. Should he suit up Friday, Tanev will likely slot back into one of the top-two defensive pairings where he is desperately needed -- the Canucks are averaging 3.10 goals allowed per game, the fourth-highest in the league.

Tanev (ankle) will not be returning to the team during the upcoming four-game road trip that wraps up Dec. 13 against the Hurricanes, according to coach Willie Desjardins.
EDGE Analysis
We're thinking that no one misses Tanev, an accomplished shot blocker, more than the goalies in Vancouver. With Ryan Miller and Jacob Markstrom splitting time between the pipes fairly evenly, the Canucks are allowing 2.96 goals per contest; only six teams have been performing at a worse rate.
