Tanev will be sidelined for 2-3 weeks after sustaining a groin injury.
EDGE Analysis
Tanev previously missed seven games due to a thumb ailment. Since returning from that injury, the blueliner has notched a lone helper while averaging 20:13 of ice time. When it comes to ancillary stats, the Ontario native doesn't offer much in terms of value either, as he has tallied a mere 13 hits, 30 blocks and 22 shots on goal in 25 contests.

Tanev (thumb) is a game-time decision Friday versus the Devils, TSN Vancouver reports.
EDGE Analysis
Troy Stecher is returning for this game, so even if Tanev isn't quite ready yet the Canucks will be reinforced defensively to some degree. That being said, Tanev plays more minutes and has five point through 15 games. With so many games, you likely have better options for your fantasy team, but you may want to keep an eye on Tanev's status anyway.

Tanev (thumb) isn't expected to be in the lineup for Tuesday's tilt versus Philadelphia, Jeff Paterson of TSN 1040 Vancouver reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despite being all but ruled out Tuesday, coach Travis Green still is hoping to get Tanev back during the remaining five games of the team's East Coast trip. The defenseman -- who has missed the Canucks previous five contests -- was bogged down in a 12-game goal drought prior to getting hurt. For now, Vancouver has called up Philip Holm, but expect the 25-year-old to head back to AHL Utica once Tanev or Troy Stecher (knee) is given the green light.

Tanev (thumb) will be sidelined for 2-to-3 weeks, Iain MacIntyre of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old blueliner won't require surgery on his injured thumb, a prognosis that significantly reduces his expected recovery timeline. Tanev has enjoyed a strong start to the campaign, notching five points (two goals, three assists) while posting a plus-9 rating in 15 games, so the Canucks will undoubtedly be more vulnerable on defense during his absence. He'll be placed on injured reserve until he's given the green light to return to the lineup.

Tanev (upper body) is out for the next three games after returning to Vancouver amidst the team's three-game, California road trip.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear when the 27-year-old blueliner suffered the injury, as he was able to play 23:19 in Tuesday's contest in Calgary. With five points in 15 games, Tanev's producing at a career-best rate and also owns an impressive plus-9 rating. Expect the team to give an update on Tanev's condition when they conclude their road trip and Alex Edler to enter the lineup in Tanev's absence.

Tanev is leading all Canucks with a plus-6 rating through the first eight games of the season.
EDGE Analysis
Tanev has been producing steadily for Vancouver, racking up two goals and four points. He doesn't play on the power play, but Tanev sees heavy minutes on the top defensive pairing and can be a decent fantasy play in deeper formats. Tanev may be more regarded for his defensive abilities, but that doesn't mean he isn't capable of jumping into the rush and creating offense. With the way he's operating right now, it's very feasible Tanev smashes the career-high 20 points he set in 2014-15.

Tanev scored his second goal of the season in Thursday's loss to Winnipeg.
EDGE Analysis
It's only three games into the NHL season and Tanev has already scored as many goals as he did in his 2016-17 campaign. The 27-year-old is in the prime of career and logging heavy minutes on Vancouver's top defensive pairing, so there's no reason he can't keep producing offense. The goal-scoring will obviously slow down, but he makes for a decent play in deeper formats.

Tanev netted his first goal of the season in Tuesday's overtime loss to the Senators.
EDGE Analysis
Tanev skated 21:18 in the game and was flying in the 3-on-3 overtime period. The 27-year-old is arguably the best Canucks' defenseman, but he's counted on more for his defense than his offensive ability. Tanev isn't afraid to join the rush, however, and has shown great offensive awareness thus far, so look for him to improve on the lackluster two goals and 10 points he recorded in 2016-17.

Tanev and Alexander Edler are expected to form Vancouver's top defensive pairing this season.
EDGE Analysis
Tanev was the talk of trade speculation over the summer, but it appears he won't be moved anytime soon. The 27-year-old has been one of Vancouver's most consistent blueliners over the past few years and should be a workhorse once again in 2017-18. Tanev impressed in the preseason with a beautiful goal against the Kings and should improve on the lackluster 10 points he recorded last season. He's relied on more for his defensive abilities and doesn't see power-play time, but given his ice time and lethal wrist shot, Tanev is worth a look in some deeper formats.

Tanev will not be traded by the Cancuks despite rumors of the contrary, theScore reports.
EDGE Analysis
Canucks GM Jim Benning originally told The Province that he'll listen to offers for Tanev, but apparently it would take a lot to get him. "Unless it would make sense for our future, I'm not trading Chris," Benning said. "He means so much to our team." Tanev is held in high regard by the big boss -- he's a smart player and adept at moving the puck -- but he generally lacks offensive upside and that figures to keep his ownership low in most fantasy leagues. Since entering the league in 2010-11, he's failed to post more than 20 points in a single campaign.
