Soderberg was away from the team Friday due to the expected arrival of his child, Adrian Dater of BSN Denver reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Avalanche have two regular-season games in Sweden -- Friday and Saturday -- and it doesn't appears as though the countryman will be able to play in either contest. This is a shame considering he's off to a decent start to the season with two goals, four assists and a plus-4 rating through 13 games and 15:19 of average ice time.

Soderberg collected a goal and an assist to complement a plus-2 rating and a pair of penalty minutes in Thursday's 5-3 home win over the Hurricanes.
EDGE Analysis
What a difference a year makes. Recall that the Swede registered only 14 points to go along with a terrible minus-26 rating through 80 games last season, but he's already put up two goals and four helpers to complement a plus-5 clip through 11 games of this 2017-18 campaign. Soderberg isn't going to suddenly emerge into a fantasy superstar, but he looks more focused and patient within the attacking zone this time around -- such a claim is backed by his career-high shooting percentage of 12.5.

Soderberg had a pair of helpers in Tuesday's win over Dallas.
EDGE Analysis
Matt Nieto recorded a hat trick and Soderberg picked up assists on two of the three tallies. The multi-point outburst snapped a five-game pointless drought for Soderberg, who has managed four points (one goals) in eight games. He's a strong depth scorer when he's feeling it and should be categorized more as the 40-point player we saw in his first few NHL seasons than the 14-point guy he was last season. Keep an eye on him in deeper leagues.

Soderberg has recorded just three shots on net and owns a minus-1 rating during his active five-game point drought.
EDGE Analysis
After marking the scoresheet in his first two games of the season, the veteran center has been stymied since. He's not receiving power-play time and has averaged just 12:13 of ice time during the skid, so his offensive opportunities have been limited. Additionally, since joining the Avalanche, Soderberg has begun 57.8 percent of his five-on-five shifts in the defensive zone.

Soderberg scored the Avs' only goal in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Devils.
EDGE Analysis
Soderberg had a forgettable year in 2016-17 -- he delivered just 14 points, including six goals, in 80 games. The As hope he can rebound to his 51-point high the previous year. Soderberg is 32 in a week and the league is built around youth. But he'll get every chance to be a leader again in Colorado.

Soderberg was not protected by the Avalanche in advance of the Vegas expansion draft, theScore reports.
EDGE Analysis
Soderberg was arguably one of the most disappointing players in the entire league last year, following up a career-high 51-point showing in 2015-16 with an absolute dud (14 points, minus-26 rating). The Swede signed a rather hefty five-year, $23.75 million contract with the Avs in 2015, so it appears they'd welcome the opportunity to have someone take that off their books.

Soderberg will take part in the 2017 IIHF World Championship.
EDGE Analysis
It was a shockingly disappointing season for Soderberg as he managed a paltry 14 points -- compared to 51 in 2015-16 -- and put up a minus-26 ratings. The blueliner also saw a significant drop in ice time as he averaged just 13:27 and was used sparingly on special teams. The 31-year-old is under contract for another three years with the Avs which means international competitions might be the closest he gets to winning for the next few years.

Soderberg will be scratched for Colorado's contest against the Flyers, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Things simply haven't gotten better for Soderberg all year, as he is a healthy scratch for his second straight game. After three consecutive years of eclipsing the 40-point mark -- including 51 points last season -- the Swedish center is seemingly stagnant at 11 points this season. As a result of his lack of production, Soderberg has seen his ice time slashed to 9:12 per game in February, along with being kicked off of the power play. The fantasy value is nowhere to be found here.

Soderberg has just a single point in his last 23 games, giving him 11 in 57 contests this season.
EDGE Analysis
Soderberg just can't seem to shake the funk that's plagued him for essentially the entire campaign. The fact that he has just a single point with the man advantage seems beyond comprehension, and his lack of power-play prowess is one reason why the former Bruin isn't going to land anywhere close to the same territory as his 51-point Avalanche debut last year.

Soderberg hasn't recorded a point in 11 games.
EDGE Analysis
What's worse, the former Bruin has just a single assist in his last 17 outings, and is stuck on 10 points after cracking the 50-point plateau last year in his Denver debut. As it stands, Soderberg is on an 82-game pace of 18 points, and all you need to do is ask one of his owners just how disappointing he's been after a successful 39-assist, 14-power-play-point, 163-shot campaign in 2015-16.
