It sounds like Soderberg's status will not be known until pregame warmups. The Swede has been a decent source of points (15 goals and 19 assists), hits (61) and blocked shots (60) this season, but the vast depth at the center position makes him not all that far off from a replacement-level option.

With his role tilted more toward shutting down the opposition, it wouldn't be surprising to see Soderberg cool down over the coming weeks.

They were the first two tallies with the man advantage this season for Soderberg, who is up to nine goals and 20 points in 38 contests. The 32-year-old is a solid depth scorer for Colorado, but he's heating up with five goals and seven points in his last seven games. He's seeing power-play time for a streaking Avalanche squad that has won five straight games, so take a look if he's available.

The veteran had a nice run in December with four goals, nine points and 30 shots while averaging 17:24 of ice time (2:12 on the power play). However, Soderberg has been beginning 65.5 percent of his five-on-five shifts in the defensive zone and has logged the second most shorthanded ice time among Colorado forwards. His strong month is likely a mirage, and Soderberg should probably be ignored outside the deepest fantasy settings.

First, the good news: His two goals put him above last year's point total, as he has 15 for the year. But the bad news is that he's still averaging less than half a point per game, and that's just not good enough for most fantasy squads. Throw in that he's been shut out six times in December, and it's clear he's not a quality option outside of very deep leagues.
