Rust (undisclosed) will not be in Wednesday's Game 3 lineup against the Senators, Pens Inside Scoop reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rust ended up traveling to Ottawa, but he still has the day-to-day label that can be so maddening for fantasy owners deciding what to do with their roster assets. At any rate, we suspect that Tom Kuhnhackl will find his way off the bench to replace Rust.

Rust (undisclosed) is traveling with the team ahead of Wednesday's Game 3 in Ottawa and has been labeled day-to-day after receiving an evaluation from team doctors, Jerry DiPaola of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
EDGE Analysis
While it's certainly a positive that Rust is able to travel with the team after departing Monday's contest with his injury, there's no guarantee that he'll be able to suit up for the crucial Game 3. If he isn't able to go, Tom Kuhnhackl could draw into the lineup after serving as a healthy scratch for the last three games.

Rust left Monday's Game 2 victory over the Senators with an undisclosed injury in the first period. Head coach Mike Sullivan did not have an update on his status after the game, according to Wes Crosby of NHL.com.
EDGE Analysis
Rust was absolutely leveled by Sens blueliner Dion Phaneuf and departed the contest after just three shifts and 1:43 of ice time. It's unclear at this point as to the specific nature or severity of Rust's injury, so those making use of him for fantasy purposes should look for other options, if possible, until the team releases further information on his status. The puck drops on Game 3 -- this time in Ottawa -- on Wednesday.

Rust scored the game-winning goal Wednesday in Game 7 against the Capitals.
EDGE Analysis
The Michigan native picked a fantastic time to score his first point of the series. Rust's tally, his fifth of the playoffs, came 8:49 into the second period and was all the Pens would need to head to their second straight Eastern Conference Final, as netminder Marc-Andre Fleury pitched his ninth career postseason shutout.

Rust scored a pair of goals just 2:43 apart in the second period of Thursday's Game 5, with the latter tally holding up as the game-winner. He also took a game-high eight shots in 14:54 of ice time.
EDGE Analysis
This was a four-goal opening series for Rust, who's seeing steady top-six action for the Pens, getting time with the likes of Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel. It's hard not to absorb some offensive production simply by osmosis when you're playing with those guys. Rust isn't a stud, but if you picked him in your postseason pool, you've got to be happy.

Rust scored just one goal in the Penguins' 5-4 overtime comeback victory in Game 3 against the Blue Jackets on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Originally, Rust had two goals, but the NHL made an official scoring change giving Evgeni Malkin credit for the second score. Blue Jackets wing Brandon Saad corralled a puck Malkin sent into the crease, but on the play, Rust pushed Saad's stick towards his own net, which caused Saad to score an own goal. Rust created the score, but since the puck never touched his stick, it was changed to Malkin's goal. Still, Rust has been impressive in his playoff career with eight goals in 26 games.

Rust scored two goals in the Penguins' 5-4 comeback victory in Game 3 of the first round against the Blue Jackets on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Pittsburgh fell behind 3-1 in the first six minutes, but the Penguins took control towards the end of the first period, which resulted in two Rust goals during the second. Rust is coming off a strong regular season, scoring 15 goals and 28 points in 57 games, but he's been even better this postseason, tallying three goals in three contests. Rust was a major contributor during last year's postseason run too. In 26 career playoff games, Rust has nine goals and 12 points.

Rust scored a goal with a plus-1 rating, two blocked shots and two hits in the Game 1 win against the Blue Jackets on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Rust was a nice DFS sleeper heading into the playoff opener, and he'll remain a solid mid-tier value for Game 2 against the Blue Jackets on Friday. He has lit the lamp in four of the past six games dating back to March 29.

Rust (lower body) told reporters he would return to the lineup against New Jersey on Thursday, barring any post-practice setbacks, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rust appears ready to suit back up without having missed any games, which would be a huge win for the banged up Pens. Once given the all clear, the winger figures to resume his top-six role as well as lining up on Pittsburgh's second power-play unit.

Rust is day-to-day after suffering a lower-body injury against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Coach Mike Sullivan told reporters he did not expect Rust to be out long-term and did not rule him out for Thursday's matchup with the Devils. It has been one step forward, two steps back for the Pens on the injury front and losing Rust -- who previously missed 20 games with an arm malady -- would stretch their already thin winger depth. If the 24-year-old is unable to suit up versus New Jersey, Pittsburgh may need to call-up a player from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
