Sutter will miss Friday's game against the Maple Leafs with an illness. Sutter's absence prompted the Wild to recall Tyler Graovac from AHL Iowa to restore some depth at center. It shouldn't register as much of a surprise when a Wild player succumbs to an illness at this point, as both the mumps and stomach flu have compromised the health of a number of players this season.

Sutter assisted on two of the Wild's three second-period goals in Monday's triumph over the Jets. Called up from AHL Iowa prior to Monday's game while Mikael Granlund (wrist) and Jason Zucker (illness) remained unavailable, Sutter made an immediate mark for the Wild. The 27-year-old has three points in three games with the parent club this season, but his presence in the team's bottom six will make it difficult to sustain that scoring pace.

Sutter was recalled from AHL Iowa on Sunday. With Mikael Granlund (upper body) out indefinitely and Jason Zucker (illness) uncertain to return for the Wild's next game, Sutter was one of two forwards added to the 23-man roster Sunday for insurance purposes. Minnesota reassigned Justin Falk to Iowa to open up a spot for Sutter, who has eight points in 56 career NHL contests.

Sutter appeared in two games with the Wild after being recalled earlier this week, but he will head back to Iowa with Matt Cooke (hip) and/or Ryan Carter (shoulder) set to return for Minnesota's next game Saturday.

The 27-year-old was auditioning for a role as the Wild's fourth-line center, but it looks like he was unable to best Kyle Brodziak for those duties. Sutter is expected to pass through waivers unclaimed and report to AHL Iowa.

Brett Sutter has signed a two-year, two-way contract with Minnesota. Sutter had a goal and two points in 17 games in 2013-14. He might end up making the Wild's opening game roster as a bottom-six forward, but he's more likely to start the season in the minors.

Carolina has sent Brett Sutter to the minors. He has earned one goal and one assist in 17 games with the Hurricanes this season.
