Brent Seabrook was benched for much of the third period Friday night.
The talented defenseman has not played well this season and Hawk coach Joel Quenneville has seen enough. After taking a bad penalty and losing Brent Sutter on a breakaway goal, Seabrook sat on the pine. "He didn't play much after the goal there," Quenneville said. "That's where we're at. He's fine." Seabrook did get over 21 minutes of ice time against the Blue Jackets on Saturday and registered an assist. Perhaps he has seen the light.

Brent Seabrook logged 29:13 minutes of playing time during Chicago's 3-2 shootout win on Tuesday.
Seabrook played 7:16 minutes in penalty killing situations alone. "He was real physical," coach Joel Quenneville said. "He's a factor with the puck [despite] defending against those big guys for as much as he did. That's a big night's work, and I thought he did a great job. That [defensive] pairing [with Niklas Hjalmarsson] has been pretty effective against top lines." Seabrook recorded seven hits and blocked three shots.

Chicago defenseman Brent Seabrook wants to see head shots banished from the NHL.
Seabrook has suffered concussions in each of the last two seasons and with the plethora of concussions of late, thinks it is time to severely punish the aggressors. "We all want to have families and live our life after hockey," Seabrook said. "If you break a leg or tear a knee, you can still live a life. But when you're struggling with some of the stuff you see some struggling with, related to heads, it's sad." Hopefully more players will speak out about head shots as it is a serious problem in contact sports.

Brent Seabrook, who was born in Richmond, British Columbia, moved out of Vancouver after his team's first round loss to the Canucks.
"I had to get out of there," Seabrook said. "I moved up to Kelowna. We took possession of our place right before the Finals started. It was good for me to get out of the city - it was pretty crazy there. I had golf clubs in front of my front door after we lost to Vancouver so it was good to get out." After facing each other in the playoffs for three straight years, the rivalry between the Chicago Blackhawks and Vancouver Canucks can't get much more heated. Each time they play each other next season will be a game to watch.
