Watson will be suspended two games after boarding Dominic Toninato during Saturday's contest.
EDGE Analysis
During the first period Toninato dumped the puck out of the defensive zone and as he was pivoting to move up ice, Watson drove Toninato's upper body into the boards, resulting in his head slamming into the glass. Although Watson made contact with Toninato's shoulder and not his head, the hit came seconds after Toninato dumped the puck and Watson had plenty of time to ease up. The 25-year-old can return to the action Friday against St. Louis.

Watson picked up 15 PIM in Saturday's win over Colorado.
EDGE Analysis
Watson has just two points through 19 games, but his 33 PIM make him appealing in some very deep leagues. He was assessed a game misconduct Saturday after boarding rookie Dominic Toninato. The 25-year-old has never hit 20 points in his career and hasn't been able to find his offense at the NHL level, but if PIM and hits play a significant role in your fantasy league, Watson might be worth owning.

Watson extended his current scoring drought to six games during Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Sharks.
EDGE Analysis
Watson has been playing mostly on the Preds' third line this season alongside Craig Smith and Calle Jarnkrok. He scored just 17 points (5 goals, 12 assists) in 77 games last season, and with just a single goal to his credit in the current campaign, hasn't done much to suggest he will surpass those totals this year. For fantasy purposes, steer clear.

Watson has zero points and just one shot on goal through four games this season.
EDGE Analysis
It remains very difficult to recommend Watson as a fantasy option outside of very deep formats. After being a standout performer three seasons ago at AHL Milwaukee (44 points in 76 games), Watson has not been able to carry that success over to the NHL level. He continues to see most of his minutes (12:25) playing on the fourth line with the likes of Colton Sissons and Cody McLeod. Buyer beware.

Watson inked a three-year, $3.3 million deal with Nashville on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
With the two sides separated by $700,000 -- Watson was seeking $1.4 million -- they seem to have split the difference. The winger is coming off a sophomore campaign in which he registered career highs in goals (5), assists (12) and shots on goal (90). Given the talent he showed with AHL Milwaukee -- 44 points in 76 games during the 2014-15 campaign -- fantasy owners shouldn't be shocked to see the 26-year-old reach the 25-point mark this season.

Watson -- who ended up filling for salary arbitration -- is seeking $1.4 million, whereas the Predators have proposed an offer of $700,000, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
We suspect an arbitrator will ultimately grant Watson a salary that comes in less than his $1.4 million ask, but higher than the $700,000 the Preds wish to provide. The Michigan native largely avoided the AHL this past season and proceeded to put up five goals, 12 assists and 99 PIM in 77 games for the parent club during the regular season. Watson also held his own during the postseason, as he averaged 13:40 of ice time and skated to a plus-3 rating with nine points over 22 grueling contests.

Watson has filed for salary arbitration, Adam Vingan of the Tennessean reports.
EDGE Analysis
Watson played in career-high 77 games with the Predators during the 2016-17 campaign, compiling five goals and 12 assists, both of which were also new highs. Instead of agreeing to his current qualifying offer, Watson will instead file for arbitration with the hope of securing a better salary at the hands of a third-party arbiter. That hearing should be set for late-July, although the two sides can continue to negotiate a deal in the meantime.

Watson recorded an assist Monday in Game 4 against the Penguins.
EDGE Analysis
Watson is making himself a serious contributor this playoffs, and he continued it by notching an assist for the third time of the Stanley Cup Finals. The 26-year-old winger made himself useful in other ways too, dishing out six hits, blocking a shot, and recording a plus-1 rating in 16:49 of ice time. He has been a serious fantasy contributor ever since the Western Conference finals started, having four goals and three assists over the past 10 games. Although he's stuck on the third line, he's still recording enough playing time to be fantasy relevant.

Watson scored two goals on three shots and blocked six shots during Monday's Game 6 win over Anaheim.
EDGE Analysis
With Nashville dealing with multiple injuries, Watson climbed the depth chart and now has three goals, seven shots and eight blocked shots through his past two games. He was a solid scorer in the OHL, but Watson's offense hasn't translated to the professional ranks, and he registered just 17 points -- five goals -- through 77 regular-season games this season. Keeping expectations in check for the 2010 first-round selection is advised moving forward.

Watson recorded his first NHL playoff goal Friday, contributing to a 3-2 road win over the Ducks for Game 1 of the Western Conference finals.
EDGE Analysis
The Michigan native made good on a one-timer from Ryan Johansen early in the second period. It would behoove fantasy owners to take note of former first-round picks that are starting to break out offensively, and Watson fits the description. He managed 17 points -- including five goals -- in 77 games during the regular season, which is a steady clip for a guy that averaged a mere 12:26 of ice time. The playoff marker will only boost his confidence moving forward.
