It looks like Anthony Stewart hasn't made the San Jose Sharks' roster.
Stewart was participating in San Jose's training camp on a tryout basis. Even if Stewart won't be able to sign with the Sharks, we still wouldn't dismiss the possibility of him agreeing to a one-way deal with another NHL team.

Anthony Stewart is hoping he can help fill the void left by Raffi Torres (knee).
Torres is expected to miss at least six weeks, but his timeline gets much worse if it's determined that he needs surgery. Meanwhile, Stewart is still participating in the Sharks' training camp on a tryout basis. "Raffi fills a big role for the team, but it's an opening for me, a similar type player where I like to get in on the forecheck and throw some big hits," Stewart said. "Hopefully it gives me a long, good look to show what I can do. I've played two games so far and I feel comfortable enough with what I've accomplished so far, but not content." Sharks coach Todd McLellan has liked what he's seen from Stewart so far in training camp.

Anthony Stewart is in tough at the San Jose Sharks training camp.
Stewart is in camp on a PTO and will have trouble cracking the Sharks lineup. "I like where it's going, but it's only been three periods," coach Todd McLellan said. "He's got a lot more work in front of him, and we've got a lot more viewing to do before we can really formulate an opinion. I don't want him to real good and I don't want him to feel real bad, I just want him to play. Just play. He's a veteran and has played enough games, he feels comfortable in the National Hockey League." Don't expect much if anything from Stewart in the NHL this season.

The Los Angeles Kings have acquired Anthony Stewart, a 2013 fourth-round draft pick, and a 2014 sixth-round pick from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for Kevin Westgarth.
That's a pretty good return for Westgarth, considering that the Kings were using him primarily as a depth forward. Stewart had nine goals and 20 points in 77 games in 2011-12 with Carolina. He should get regular playing time as a bottom-six forward with the Kings.

Anthony Stewart, who is back in North America after suiting up for the Nottingham Panthers of the Elite Ice Hockey League, is still optimistic that the 2012-13 NHL campaign can be saved.
"I've still got faith," he said Monday. "It's a waiting game now, but you've got to have that optimism." Stewart spoke fondly of his time in Nottingham, where he recorded 11 points in 19 games. "It was a great life experience," he stated. "The main thing over there was to just get some games in and stay in game shape. It's a lot easier to fall out of shape than stay in shape. I left the team in first place. It was definitely a great time."
