Andrew Ference's status for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals is still unknown. He is recovering from a foot injury , and although he has been practising for a week, it is not clear if he will suit up Saturday night. Of Ference, Boston coach Claude Julien had the following to say: "He's getting better every day and right now I'm going to wait. I haven't talked to our trainers or doctors. When they tell me that they feel comfortable that he can go, then we'll be excited to have him back with us." Consider Ference day-to-day for now.

Andrew Ference (lower body) may not be guaranteed a roster spot once he's ready to return to the lineup. Coach Claude Julien was asked what would happen once Ference is healthy and he chose not to answer. "You know what? We're not there yet, and until we're there, I'm not answering those questions," the Boston bench boss said. "It's like we're trying to get ahead of everything here. We're not even close to starting a series. We'll let him skate a little bit with us and see how he does. When the time comes, I'll be more than happy to make that tough decision." Ference skated alongside regular healthy scratch Aaron Johnson during Boston's practice session on Tuesday, which was his first time back on the ice since getting hurt in Round 1.

Andrew Ference (lower body) practiced with the Boston Bruins on Tuesday. It was the first time Ference practiced with his teammates since suffering what's believed to be a foot injury. The Bruins aren't saying whether he'll be ready for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals, but he seems to be progressing enough that there's a legitimate chance he'll be able to suit up. The question then, however, is whether Ference will get back into the lineup considering how youngsters Matt Bartkowski and Torey Krug are playing.
