Lowry is meriting heavy consideration for a spot on the Jets' Opening Night roster, Ed Tait of the Winnipeg Free Press reports. The sizable 21-year-old has always been viewed as one of the team's more talented prospects, but it appears his ability to swing between center and wing is the main factor that has him in the mix for a roster berth. If the Jets do bring Lowry aboard, he'd likely slot in as their third-line left wing, a role that wouldn't be completely bereft of fantasy value while remaining next to competent offensive skaters in Mathieu Perreault and Michael Frolik. Keep tabs on Lowry as the Jets prepare for final cuts.

Adam Lowry played center for St. John's and could be a prospect to watch for the Jets. Winnipeg is in need of some depth down the middle and Lowry could be an option in the next year or two. He generated 17 goals and 33 points in 64 AHL games last season. His 6-foot-5 frame and 201-pound body are intriguing for a team looking for size at the center position, but he may not be ready to step into the NHL next season.

Adam Lowry picked up a game-high seven hits in Monday's preseason game against the Edmonton Oilers. "It felt good," Lowry said. "I was pretty excited to get it underway. I was a little nervous during the day, just anxious to get it underway. As the game wore on, I started to get more comfortable. The first two shifts I was able to get a couple of hits in and it allowed me to settle my nerves and know I could play with these guys." He went on to reiterate that he's willing to go to the AHL to further his development if that's what the team decides and that is likely to happen.

Adam Lowry would like to make the Jets' roster out of training camp, but if he doesn't then he's OK with starting his pro career in the minors. Lowry, who was the WHL player of the year last season, is being viewed as a bit of dark horse to begin the 2013-14 campaign in the NHL with Winnipeg. He got a taste of the AHL last year, with St. John's, and posted one assist in nine contests. It's likely that he'll head down to the minors for some seasoning, but he could be in the big league at some point this season.

Adam Lowry was named the WHL's player of the year. Lowry, the team's third-round pick from the 2011 draft, finished the regular season with 45 goals and 43 assists, and he also had five points in five games in the playoffs. The 20-year-old also made his AHL debut, getting an assist in nine games. "Making that switch to center really opened up the ice for me," said Lowry. "As I've gotten stronger I've been able to hang onto the puck longer and win more battles. I'm going to continue to work on getting stronger -- I know the guys in the AHL and NHL are a lot bigger and stronger. "As I get stronger I think that will help with my skating and overall versatility." Lowry will attend the Jets' development camp in the summer prior to heading to the Jets' training camp.

Adam Lowry is expected to attend the Jets' development camp this summer prior to participating in Winnipeg's NHL training camp. "There's a lot of opportunity in Winnipeg," said Lowry. "I'll have to put in a lot of hard work in the summer, continue to fill out my frame and whether it takes me a couple of years to reach the big club, it's all about what's best for my development. I just look forward to the process and the journey of one day of playing in the NHL." He was named the 2012-13 WHL Player of the Year and the recipient of the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy on Wednesday.
