Moss could move to a timeshare or backup role Week 5 against the Titans with Jonathan Taylor (ankle) listed as questionable for Sunday's game.
EDGE Analysis
Taylor still needs to be activated from the reserve/PUP list, but a decision on adding him to the active roster will come Saturday. If Taylor is activated and deemed healthy enough to play, it's not clear how much playing time he'll get. Moss could work anywhere from a small backup role to being the primary running back again if Taylor is eased into action.

Moss rushed 18 times for 70 yards and failed to secure his only target during Sunday's 29-23 overtime loss to the Rams.
EDGE Analysis
Other than a 20-yard run in the third quarter, the sledding was rough for Moss against a capable Rams defense. The Colts' only rushing touchdown went to rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson, his fifth on the year, and through three games Moss has reached the end zone only once. Jonathan Taylor (ankle) is fully healthy and could return next week against the Titans, which would relegate Moss back to a backup role.

Moss rushed the ball 30 times for 122 yards in Sunday's 22-19 overtime loss to the Ravens. He added two receptions for 23 yards and a touchdown.
EDGE Analysis
Moss maintained the clear lead role in the Colts backfield, accounting for 30 of the team's 35 rushing attempts. He was surprisingly efficient against a tough run defense, ripping off a pair of 24-yard runs and two more rushes of more than 10 yards. Moss supplemented that production with a 17-yard touchdown catch early in the second quarter, and he's seen a combined seven targets in his two games as a Colt. Assuming Jonathan Taylor (ankle) is still with the team and can return in Week 5, Moss' production will likely be short-lived, but he's a safe bet for more volume in Week 4 against the Rams.

Moss rushed 18 times for 88 yards and a touchdown and brought in all four targets for 19 yards in the Colts' 31-20 win over the Texans on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Moss enjoyed a noteworthy season debut after missing Week 1 as he completed his recovery from a broken forearm suffered in training camp. The fourth-year pro picked up where he left off during his strong season-ending four-game run in 2022, and he found the end zone on a hard-charging 11-yard run early in the second quarter. Moss, who notably was the only Colts back to record a carry Sunday, has at least two more games at the top of the ground attack before Jonathan Taylor (PUP, ankle) potentially returns, which is no sure proposition considering he reportedly remains interested in being traded.

Moss (shoulder) was a full participant in practices Wednesday through Friday and is expected to serve as the Colts' starting running back Sunday in Houston, Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Moss sat out the Colts' Week 1 loss to the Jaguars while he continued to recover from the fractured forearm he sustained in training camp. Even though Moss has gotten only one full week of practice under his belt since suffering the injury, the Colts could be comfortable with immediately leaning on him as their top option on the ground, given Evan Hull's (knee) recent move to injured reserve along with the nightmarish performance that fill-in starter Deon Jackson (13 carries for 14 yards, five catches for 14 yards, two lost fumbles) turned in against Jacksonville. Jackson may retain a role as the Colts' top passing-down back, but Moss offers a clear upgrade as a ball carrier after he averaged 4.8 yards per carry on 76 attempts for Indianapolis in 2022 after coming over in a midseason trade with the Bills. With Jonathan Taylor (ankle) out at least three more games and uncertain to play for the Colts even once fully healthy, Moss might have a path to operating as Indianapolis' lead back for the rest of the season.

Moss (arm) was a full participant in practice Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Moss is on track for his 2023 debut this Sunday against Houston and may jump right into a key role after Week 1 sent Deon Jackson to the doghouse and Evan Hull (knee) to injured reserve. Jackson should still be involved, especially in passing situations, but a depth chart featuring him, Moss and Jake Funk leaves Moss as the favorite to get the most carries. Moss averaged 17.3 carries for 83.5 yards over the final four weeks of last season, albeit with only one touchdown and four catches for 12 yards. He likely would've started Week 1 against Jacksonville if he hadn't been finishing up his recovery from Aug. 1 surgery on a fractured arm.

Moss (forearm) is listed as inactive for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
EDGE Analysis
The Colts downgraded Moss (who is bouncing back from a broken arm) to doubtful Saturday, so it's not surprising to see him sit this one out. In his absence, Deon Jackson is a candidate to head the team's Week 1 backfield, with rookie Evan Hull on hand to work in a complementary role and practice squad elevation Jake Funk in reserve. Moss was able to practice in a limited fashion this past week, which would appear to make a potential return to action on his part next weekend against the Texans plausible.

Moss (forearm) was downgraded to doubtful for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The initial prognosis after it was announced Moss broke his forearm and would require surgery back in the beginning of August was that the veteran would be sidelined in the range of six weeks, so the downgrade shouldn't be viewed as a setback. It seems likely Moss will be ruled out ahead of Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, and should that occur it'll likely be a combination of Deon Jackson and rookie Evan Hull taking the majority of the work out of the backfield.

Moss (forearm) is listed as questionable for Sunday's season opener against the Jaguars after practicing in a limited fashion this week.
EDGE Analysis
Moss -- who is bouncing back from a broken arm -- is the only player on the Colts' active roster with an injury designation ahead of Week 1 action, so his status is worth monitoring as Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff approaches. If Moss ends up being held out of Indy's opener, Deon Jackson and Evan Hull would figure to lead the team's backfield, with practice-squad members Jake Funk and Jason Huntley potentially in the depth mix if either or both are elevated for the contest.

Moss (arm) remained limited at practice Thursday, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bowen previously noted that Moss -- who is bouncing back from a broken arm -- was able to take some contact during Thursday's session, but unless the running back practices fully Friday, he figures to approach Sunday's game against the Jaguars with a Week 1 injury designation. In the event that Moss is cleared to play this weekend, he could begin the season as part of a backfield timeshare that would also include Deon Jackson and Evan Hull.
