Allen is likely to test the free agent market, according to ESPN writer Jeremy Fowler.
EDGE Analysis
Recognizing the need to improve their defensive backfield, Pittsburh needs to determine if Allen, who will be 34 before the start of the season, fits in their plans. Despite setting single season career highs in tackles and passes defended in 2015, Allen could find himself on the open market where, considering his age, is unlikely to receive anything more than one year offers. Still, regarrdless of the team, if he is on the field Allen is a respectable IDP option.

Allen recorded six tackles (all solo) in Pittsburgh's loss to Denver on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Allen finished the season with 80 tackles (62 solo), including four sacks. He also had an interception and two forced fumbles. Allen, who is an unrestricted free agent, saw his playing time more than double from last season, and it was reflected in his production. He set single season career highs in tackles and passes defended (eight), and the four sacks, his first in 12 years in the league, were the second most by a defensive back (Ron Parker, KC, five) in 2016. Whether or not he returns to Pittsburgh, Allen is worthy of IDP consideration.

Allen totaled seven tackles (all solo), including a sack in Pittsburgh's win over Cleveland on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
After failing to record a sack in his first 11 seasons in the NFL, Allen became the first Steelers defensive back with four sacks in a season since 2004 (Deshea Townsend) when he brought down Austin Davis in the first quarter of Pittsburgh's 28-12 win.

Allen totaled five tackles (all solo) including a sack in the Steelers' win over the Bengals on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Allen recorded a sack for his second straight game, and now has three thru 10 games after failing to have one in his previous 11 seasons. Pittsburgh already has 38 sacks this season, their most since 2012.

Allen had a team-high 11 tackles (nine solo) and a fumble recovery in Pittsburgh's 30-9 win over Cleveland on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The 11 tackles are a single-game record for Allen, who also forced the fourth fumble of his 12-year career. With 49 total tackles including a sack and one interception, the unrestricted free agent is having a solid season.

Allen (ankle) is probable for Sunday's game.
EDGE Analysis
It appears as if the 33-year-old will play in his first game since injuring his ankle in Week 5. While the Steelers have yet to officially announce anything regarding his game-time status, Allen will likely replace his fill-in, Robert Golden, atop the depth chart when Pittsburgh plays Oakland in Week 9.

Allen (ankle) was a full participant at practice Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Considering Allen has now been able to practice in back-to-back days, it appears as if the 33-year-old will be able to play in Week 9 barring any unforeseen complications. Allen had been a solid source of IDP production in the five games prior to his injury (31 tackles, including 26 solo stops to go along with a sack and a pick) and he could be in line for more of the same with the Raiders surprisingly dynamic aerial attack set to take the field against the Steelers on Sunday.

Allen was a limited participant in practice Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Allen hasn't been able to play since Week 5, when he went down with the ankle injury against the Chargers, but the limited participation in practice indicates his status is improving. Although still listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Raiders, fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status throughout the week. Robert Golden will likely start at safety if Allen is forced to sit another game.
