Cruz's groin injury is "still bothering him", Art Stapleton of the Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cruz was held out of Friday's preseason opener versus the Dolphins, but was able to take part in individual drills during Sunday's practice. However, the 29-year-old wideout was noticeably hobbled by the lingering injury, which is a bit concerning considering Cruz's history with injuries. He's expected to get treatment on Sunday night and then will be reassessed, so we should hear more on the groin in the coming few days.

Cruz (groin) is slated to take part in individual drills at Sunday's practice, Tom Rock of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
With yet another injury in tow, Cruz was held out of Friday's preseason game against the Dolphins, likely as a precautionary measure. Head coach Ben McAdoo's expectation of a practice appearance for Cruz is generally a good sign that his health is improving. However, Cruz teased at times last season before landing on injured reserve without logging as much as a snap, so a magnitude of skepticism follows any development with the wide receiver.

Cruz (groin) will not play in Friday's preseason opener against the Dolphins.
EDGE Analysis
Cruz is dealing with tightness in his groin and missed some practice time this week, so his inactive status for Friday's first exhibition tilt isn't unexpected. Still, for someone that hasn't played in so long, Cruz could certainly use some live game action ahead of the regular season. So while Cruz will miss Friday's opener due to another injury, his progress in the coming week will be worthwhile to track in hopes he can play next Saturday against the Bills.

Cruz (groin) is not on the practice field for Wednesday's session, Art Stapleton of The Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cruz also sat out of the majority of Tuesday's practice as he deals with tightness in his groin. The injury-plagued wide receiver will likely be held out of Friday's preseason opener against the Dolphins, but he'll aim for a return to practice Sunday.

Cruz missed the majority of Tuesday's practice due to a groin concern, the New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Neither Cruz nor head coach Ben McAdoo relayed any details of the ailment, thus ending any hope the wideout had of playing in Friday's exhibition opener against the Dolphins, according to Art Stapleton of The Record. With no NFL snaps since October of 2014, expect Cruz to ease himself back into the fold due to his considerable injury history.

Cruz (calf) took a big hit in practice Thursday, but popped right up and got back into the huddle, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
EDGE Analysis
So far so good for Cruz who doesn't appear bothered by the calf injury that cost him the 2015 season. Barring a setback, it looks like he'll be fine for the start of the year. The only question then is what version of Cruz the Giants get.

The Giants "dialed back" Cruz's workload Sunday as part of their plan to get him ready for the start of the regular season, Newsday.com reports. "He did work, he finished practice and he got the number of reps we were looking for him to get today. That's part of the structure," head coach Tom Coughlin remarked.
EDGE Analysis
Significant, as this marked the first time the Giants have tapered Cruz's workload since the start of training camp. No setbacks have occurred, though, as the team is simply exercising extreme caution with their former Pro Bowl receiver in his recovery from a pair of lower body injuries. The Giants will take practice off on Monday, giving Cruz two straight days without having to bear a full workload, but Tuesday is set up to be a fully-padded practice. Coughlin was noncommital as to whether Cruz would be a full participant, but Cruz is fully expected to participate in some capacity.

Cruz (calf) made it through a second straight practice without limitations, and appears "on schedule" for his return to the field, Jordan Raanan of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cruz missed all of the 2015 season, and a majority of the 2014 season with his calf injury. Making it through consecutive full practices is cause for optimism as he continues his journey back to action. He will be monitored closely as training camp progresses.

Cruz (calf) was a full participant in Friday's opening day of training camp, NorthJersey.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cruz had not practiced in full since last September, so even though Friday marked the opening day of camp, the fact that he was able to do everything is certainly a positive sign. Due to a knee and calf injury, Cruz hasn't played since Week 6 of the 2014 campaign, but was running routes with his teammates and catching passes Friday. Afterward, Cruz stated he's nearing full speed, and although coach Ben McAdoo acknowledged the wideout's progress will be monitored, particularly as more team drills approach, he expects Cruz to practice without limitations going forward.

Cruz (calf) has avoided the PUP list and will take the practice field Friday, Art Stapleton of The Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
All Giants must pass a conditioning test in order to practice, and Cruz joined the majority of his teammates in accomplishing the feat. Throughout the offseason program, he was contained to individual drills, at best, whether the stage was OTAs or mandatory minicamp, but Thursday's success opens the door for some team drills. Knowing his rich injury history, though, the Giants will likely exercise caution in order to avoid any potholes along the route to (ideally) active status in Week 1.
