Williams caught five of six targets for 115 yards and a touchdown during the 26-24 loss to the Eagles on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
It took four games, but Williams finally put together a breakout performance. Most of the yards came on one play, as Williams blew past the Eagles secondary for an easy 75-yard touchdown early in the second quarter. Regardless, fantasy owners will take it, as Williams had struggled to find much success prior to this point. Perhaps more encouraging, Williams once again saw a healthy chunk of the targets, trailing only Keenan Allen (11) in looks. He'll face an intriguing matchup next week against the Giants.

Williams caught just two of his seven targets for 15 yards in the 24-10 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
With the Chargers trailing for most of the contest, Williams was in prime position to post a positive fantasy day, only for a litany of dropped balls and overthrown targets to ruin the parade. Through three games, Williams is third among Chargers wide receivers in receiving yards which is a bit of a surprise since he's seen the second most targets (18) on the team behind Keenan Allen's 29. However given Williams' place in the high octane passing attack of the Chargers, he still remains on the radar for fantasy owners as a quality flex option who has the capability to explode given the right matchup.

Williams finished Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Dolphins with four catches for 54 yards.
EDGE Analysis
That's now two straight 54-yard games for Williams, an oddly specific stat line for the Chargers' No. 2 receiver. While Williams was surpassed in targets by Keenan Allen (10), Hunter Henry (7) and Melvin Gordon (7), he was still clearly a focal point of the offense as the Chargers seemed intent to move the ball through the air. While there's unlikely to be such an offensive imbalance most games (39 passes to 14 runs), Williams is nevertheless a solid flex option in most leagues, capable of busting out for a big game in the right situation.

Williams caught five of seven targets for 54 yards during Monday's loss to Denver.
EDGE Analysis
While Williams' stat line doesn't jump off the page, there were a number of positives to take away from Monday's showing. His seven targets were second to only Keenan Allen, and quarterback Philip Rivers consistently looked to his third-year wideout throughout the game. The Denver pass rush forced Rivers to get the ball out of his hands quickly, so moving forward, Williams is likely to show off more of his big-play ability downfield in softer matchups. Don't forget, his six catches of 40-plus yards were tied for the most in the league last season.

Williams (groin) was left off the Chargers' injury report Thursday, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Chargers held Williams out of the preseason finale with a sore groin, but his absence from the team's first injury report of the week indicates that the issue is no longer a concern. Williams will enter the season as the Chargers' No. 2 wideout and could very well end up supplanting Keenan Allen -- who is returning from a torn ACL -- as the team's top target before 2017 draws to a close.

Williams did not play during Saturday's game against the Rams due to a sore groin, Eric D. Williams of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The team hasn't indicated that the injury is serious, so the move was likely just precautionary. He should likely be expected to suit up for Week 1.

Head coach Anthony Lynn listed Williams as the team's No. 2 wide receiver on the first, unofficial depth chart ESPN's Eric D. Williams reports.
EDGE Analysis
This shouldn't come as much surprise, especially given that the potential challenger for the spot, rookie Mike Williams (back), has not been able to partake in training camp. If things stand the way they are now, (Tyrell) Williams would operate solely as an outside receiver, with Keenan Allen and Travis Benjamin likely rotating from the slot to the outside depending on a given formation. If the back injury that has debilitated (Mike) Williams for the majority of the summer leaks into the regular season, don't be surprised to see (Tyrell) Williams cling onto the starting wide receiver role for the entire duration of the campaign.

The Chargers surprisingly opted to use the No. 7 overall pick in the 2017 draft on Clemson wideout Mike Williams, who will join a receiving corps that already includes (Tyrell) Williams, Keenan Allen (knee) and Travis Benjamin (knee), Dan Woike of The Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tyrell Williams entered 2016 as the Chargers' No. 3/4 wideout but finished the season as the team's go-to target, outlasting Allen (torn ACL) and outplaying Benjamin. With all three wideouts expected to be healthy by Week 1, it came as a major surprise when the Chargers selected Mike Williams instead of a defensive player in the first round. The end result is a very crowded receiving corps, though in light of what happened last season it would seem Benjamin's workload is in more danger than (Tyrell) Williams'. There's also plenty of competition for touches from the other positions, as running back Melvin Gordon and tight end Hunter Henry thrived alongside (Tyrell) Williams in an injury-riddled Chargers offense. Even if he manages to retain the No. 2 receiver spot, Williams will face a difficult path to matching last year's 120 targets.

Williams believes he still has a lot to work on as he looks to build on his breakout season, ESPN.com reports. "Looking back on the film there's a lot of stuff I want to improve on," said Williams. "So I'm trying to use that right now, and I've just been working on stuff right now to move forward coming into next season."
EDGE Analysis
After catching only two passes as a rookie, the 2015 UDFA finished as the Chargers' 2016 leader or co-leader in receptions (69), receiving yards (1,059), targets (120) and touchdowns (seven), despite opening the year without a starting job. The absence of Keenan Allen (knee) played a huge role in Williams' increased involvement, but talent played just as big of a part, with the young wideout learning how to utilize his impressive combination of size (6-4, 205 pounds) and speed (4.4 40-yard dash). Even with Allen tentatively expected back by Week 1, it can safely be assumed Williams will have a key role in a San Diego offense that also features wideouts Travis Benjamin (knee) and Dontrelle Inman. Benjamin may have the big contract, but that shouldn't stop Williams from making a strong push for the No. 2 job. With tight ends Antonio Gates and Hunter Henry also in the picture -- not to mention running back Melvin Gordon -- there's no shortage of competition for Philip Rivers' attention.

Williams caught six of seven targets for 70 yards in Sunday's loss to Kansas City.
EDGE Analysis
When Keenan Allen and Stevie Johnson both went down with knee injuries early, few could have predicted that it would be Williams who would take charge with a 1,000 yard season. The Western Oregon product did just that, however, adding to the Chargers' lineage of big-bodied, small-school receivers including Malcolm Floyd and Vincent Jackson. There are few certainties for San Diego heading into 2017, including whether or not they'll be in San Diego, but Williams' production and favorable contract make him one of the team's best assets heading into next season.
