While spelling Brown in Week 7 against the Bears, Johnson logged a season-high 47 snaps but was targeted just twice, parlaying both looks into catches totaling 16 yards. The second-year wideout will have a second straight opportunity to run directly behind starters Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, and given how frequently vexing the matchup against Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore often has been for Evans in particular, Johnson could be set to draw more of Tom Brady's attention than he did versus Chicago.

Johnson brought in both targets for 16 yards in the Buccaneers' 38-3 win over the Bears on Sunday.

The second-year wideout logged a hefty 49 snaps overall, good for a 67 percent share. However, Johnson saw the bulk of Tom Brady's attention diverted to Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, who accounted for 14 of the quarterback's 20 completions, 187 of his 211 yards and all four of his touchdown passes. With Antonio Brown (ankle) potentially back for a Week 8 road battle against the Saints, Johnson figures to see his time on the field dwindle from Sunday's level before long.

Johnson went without a target while logging his second-lowest snap share (16 percent) in the team's Week 6 win over Philadelphia, but a larger role should be on the horizon after Antonio Brown (knee) was ruled out for Sunday's contest. Beyond starters Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, the only other healthy receiver on the roster is Jaelon Darden, who appears more likely to contribute as a return man rather than on offense. That leaves Johnson as the most obvious candidate to join Evans and Godwin in three-receiver sets, and while the latter two players will likely command most of Tom Brady's attention, Johnson could still carve out a role as a secondary target. Along with Brown, the Bucs will be without top tight end Rob Gronkowski (ribs) for a fourth straight game, while No. 2 TE O.J. The reserve second-year wideout couldn't crack the stat sheet after posting a solid 3-42 line in Week 6 against the Dolphins. Given the healthy talent at receiver in front of him, Johnson's production will likely remain volatile on a week-to-week basis unless multiple injuries strike the position.

Johnson had followed up an encouraging 3-63 line in Week 3 against the Rams -- a game for which Antonio Brown was on the reserve-COVID-19 list -- with a blanking in Week 4. Therefore, it was encouraging to see the second-year wideout reemerge to an extent Sunday against Miami. Johnson already has seven receptions for 110 yards through five games this season after logging 12 receptions across 14 contests as a rookie, and he should continue seeing sporadic complementary opportunities as a No. 4 option while Scotty Miller (IR-toe) remains sidelined.

Johnson failed to come up with either of his two targets in the Buccaneers' 19-17 win over the Patriots on Sunday night.

A week after producing an encouraging 3-63 line against the Rams in a Week 3 loss, Johnson came up empty despite Scotty Miller's (IR-toe) absence boosting him up a notch on the depth chart. Antonio Brown's return from a one-game absence due to a stint on the reserve/COVID-19 list and a sloppy weather environment helped play a part in Johnson's downturn, and he'll look to return to at least a slightly bigger role versus the Dolphins in Week 5.

The second-year wideout was afforded an expanded opportunity with Antonio Brown (reserve/COVID-19) sidelined, and he came through in impressive fashion with a career-best receiving yardage total. Johnson's tally in that category also was good for third on the Buccaneers behind only Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, making it an all-around encouraging performance in a disappointing afternoon from a team perspective. Johnson even outpaced the more experienced Scotty Miller in snaps by a narrow 34-32 margin, another tangible indicator he eventually could surpass the latter on the depth chart and slot in behind the top trio of Evans, Godwin and Brown.

Johnson secured one of two targets for five yards across 17 snaps from scrimmage during the Buccaneers' 48-25 win over the Falcons on Sunday.

EDGE Analysis

Through two games, Johnson has logged three targets overall, and he could be set for a nice bump in opportunity in a Week 3 showdown against the Rams. With Antonio Brown being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, there's a strong chance the veteran wideout misses at least the game versus Los Angeles, a development that would elevate Johnson to No. 4 receiver status, at minimum. It's also likely Johnson could essentially share No. 3 duties with Scotty Miller in such a scenario, considering he outpaced the latter, who's yet to see a target over the first pair of contests, by five snaps Sunday.

Johnson failed to come up with his only target during the Buccaneers' 31-29 win over the Cowboys on Thursday.

EDGE Analysis

The second-year wideout logged just three snaps from scrimmage, so the lack of action on offense was unsurprising. Johnson's empty stat line could unfortunately be par from the course for him on many weeks while the top wideout trio of Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown is healthy.

The second-year wideout posted his second straight two-reception tally of the preseason and finished with five catches overall across three exhibition games. Johnson appears to be on solid footing to start making inroads into some No. 4 receiver snaps as the coming season unfolds, reps he'd presumably be sharing with Scotty Miller and, perhaps to a lesser extent, rookie Jaelon Darden. Johnson's first chance to start carving out a bigger role comes in the Week 1 battle against the Cowboys on Thursday, Sept. 9.
