Eagles placed WR Steve Smith on injured reserve with a bone bruise in his left knee, ending his season. It's the same knee Smith underwent microfracture surgery on last December. It's ominous news for Smith's future, but as of yet it's unclear if he'll need another operation. Smith was surprisingly "ready" for Week 1, but never made an impact for the Eagles, making just 11 catches for 124 yards in nine games. Word has persisted Smith could reunite with the Giants this offseason, but with the emergence of Victor Cruz, it's unlikely the G-Men will be rushing to bring back a player with Smith's injury history.

Eagles WR Steve Smith didn't play a single snap against the Seahawks in Week 13. Chad Hall, promoted from the practice squad just two weeks ago, played 12 snaps as the Eagles' fourth receiver. Smith can be dropped in all but the deepest Dynasty leagues. An impending free agent, he's unlikely to be back in Philly for the 2012 season.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, "it would not be a surprise" if Steve Smith re-signed with the Giants this offseason. This is the second time in a week Schefter has hinted at a possible Smith/Giants reunion, so his sources must be adamant it's something both sides are open to. With Mario Manningham set to become a free agent, Smith could be a nifty low-cost replacement. Smith has been invisible for the Eagles, but is still less than a year removed from major knee surgery. Still only 26, it's not far-fetched to assume he'll bounce-back in 2012.

Steve Smith played just seven snaps in last Sunday's win over the Giants. With Jeremy Maclin (shoulder) out, Riley Cooper got a chance to flash his big-play upside. That left Smith as an innocent bystander, playing the same number of snaps as Chad Hall. Cooper is the clear "handcuff" to Maclin here.

Steve Smith caught a 14-yard touchdown in Sunday's win over the Giants. Smith's first score of the season was his only catch of the night. Smith was able to get a measure of revenge on his former team this evening, but the fact that he remained more-or-less invisible in the absence of Jeremy Maclin should officially end his 2011 quest for fantasy relevancy.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Eagles WR Steve Smith would like to re-sign with the Giants after the season. Smith reportedly believes the Giants "are the best fit for him," after rarely getting on the field during his first nine games as an Eagle. Smith only signed a one-year contract in Philly, so he'll be an option for New York in 2012 free agency. Unfortunately for Smith, the G-Men may be poised to move forward with Victor Cruz as their long-term slot receiver. While Smith might be more reliable, Cruz's big-play ability blows Smith's out of the water.

Backup slot receiver Steve Smith caught five balls for 47 yards in Week 10 against the Cardinals. Some thought he showed his old speed, but we'd want to review tape before endorsing that. The Eagles moved him around the formation due to the absence of DeSean Jackson and injuries to Jeremy Maclin, and Smith ended up with a team-high 10 targets. He showed his rust on a key third down catch that 9-of-10 NFL receivers would have converted, and it's unclear if he can handle a heavy workload. If Maclin's injuries hold him out, Smith will warrant some, but not a lot of consideration in fantasy leagues.

Eagles WR Steve Smith was on the field for zero snaps in Sunday's win over the Cowboys. According to Philly.com's Sheil Kapadia, the Eagles lined up in a four-receiver set only once, but Smith was still on the field for eight fewer snaps than Riley Cooper. At this point, it's safe to say Smith is closer to being waived than fantasy relevance.
