Mathews (concussion/groin) was a full practice participant Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Mathews was slated to meet with an independent neurologist Tuesday, but the fact that he was contained to individual drills Wednesday signaled his continued residence in the concussion protocol. With a return in full Thursday, though, he appears to have cleared the final hurdle, which would leave the Eagles with an even more crowded backfield Sunday against the Bills. If he returns from a three-game absence, he'll have to contend with fellow backs DeMarco Murray, Darren Sproles, and perhaps even Kenjon Barner (ankle).

Mathews (concussion/groin) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
EDGE Analysis
Mathews made some progress with his concussion Monday after passing a baseline test, but his meeting with an independent neurologist Tuesday doesn't appear to have yielded the desired result. As the week continues, he'll have additional chances to prove his health, yet he still has some steps to take to complete his passage through the protocol.

Mathews (concussion) said after Tuesday's practice that he plans to return for Sunday's game against Buffalo, according to Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News.
EDGE Analysis
According to Dave Spadaro of the team's official website, Mathews was a full-go at Tuesday's practice, just one day after he was finally able to pass a neuropsychological test. His practice status will still be worth monitoring, but with DeMarco Murray's role unclear, it's quite possible Mathews could return to action with a new role as the Eagles' lead back.

Mathews (concussion) took part in Tuesday's practice, Martin Frank of the Delaware News Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's not clear how much work Mathews got in Tuesday, but his presence at practice -- coupled with the fact he had his helmet -- is an indicator he has cleared the league's concussion protocol. The Eagles will release an official update on Mathews' status Wednesday or before, but he will have a chance to suit up this week for the first time since Week 10.

Mathews (concussion) may return to practice Tuesday after passing neuropsychological testing Monday, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
EDGE Analysis
Having finally passed his baseline test, Mathews will now be evaluated by an independent neurologist Tuesday morning, and even if he isn't cleared right away, it seems he has a shot to be back for Sunday's game against the Bills. He may return to a larger workload than the one he left behind, as DeMarco Murray got just eight carries in Sunday's win over the Patriots, losing work to both Darren Sproles (15 carries) and Kenjon Barner (nine). Even though head coach Chip Kelly said Murray hasn't been demoted, it's become increasingly clear that the Eagles are frustrated with their prized offseason acquisition.

Mathews (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
EDGE Analysis
Mathews has not been able to escape the league's concussion protocol as of yet, so he will sit out for the third week in a row. He still needs to be cleared, but he is able to exercise without concussion symptoms, according to Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News, so he could have a chance to return to action in Week 14.

Mathews remains in the concussion protocol as of Thursday, the Eagles' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mathews' inability to practice is particularly concerning, as it indicates that he hasn't completed the initial battery of tests in the concussion protocol. If he fails to make an appearance at drills Friday, the Eagles would rely upon DeMarco Murray and Darren Sproles out of the backfield Sunday at New England.

Mathews (concussion/groin) didn't participate in practice Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
While Mathews hasn't received clearance from the concussion protocol to take part in drills, he's now also hamstrung by a hamstring injury. It's unclear if he'll need to practice in order to play Sunday at New England, but he'll have two more opportunities to do so before the end of the week.

Mathews (concussion) did not practice Tuesday, but he was present and able to observe the session, Zach Berman of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Mathews was still unable to get back on the field Tuesday, his presence at Eagles practice represents a step forward in the concussion protocol. Mathews may have a chance to return to action in Week 13, but he will need to be fully cleared in order to do so.

As of Monday, Mathews has yet to be cleared under the NFL's concussion protocol, CSN Philly reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mathews is thus no lock to return to action Sunday against the Patriots, with DeMarco Murray, Darren Sproles and Kenjon Barner currently the Eagles' top healthy backfield options.
