Fitzpatrick will start Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
This merely confirms what Jameis Winston (shoulder) hinted at Wednesday when he said he'd be shut down from football activities for at least two weeks while rehabbing his AC joint sprain and rear deltoid injury. There's still some chance he'll require surgery or a prolonged period of rest, in which case Fitzpatrick would take over as the starting quarterback for the rest of the season. The 34-year-old was competent as a mid-game replacement against the Cardinals in Week 6 and Saints in Week 9, but he struggled as the starter in Sunday's 15-10 win over the Jets, completing 17 of 34 passes for 187 yards with a touchdown and an interception. The Buccaneers at least will get Mike Evans back from suspension for Sunday's matchup with a soft Miami pass defense.

Fitzpatrick completed 17 of 34 passes for 187 yards with one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's 15-10 win over the Jets. He also rushed three times for nine yards and notched a two-point conversion rush.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran signal caller didn't exactly make it look pretty, but he did enough to help the Buccaneers snap a five-game losing streak. Fitzpatrick was able to sustain some long drives, leading marches of 17, nine and seven plays that all culmminated in field goals. He then embarked on a 15-play, 81-yard possession that he capped off with a six-yard touchdown throw to Charles Sims and ran in the ensuing two-point conversion. Fitzpatrick's totals won't exactly thrill fantasy owners who took a chance on him in Week 10, but he could find himself in a potentially better matchup against the Dolphins in a Week 11 road matchup.

Fitzpatrick will be the Buccaneers' starting quarterback during Jameis Winston's (shoulder) upcoming absence, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
During Sunday's loss at New Orleans, Fitzpatrick played another lengthy stretch in place of Winston, who was ruled out at halftime. An MRI revealed Winston has damage in his right throwing shoulder in addition to the sprained AC joint. With at least two weeks of rehab prescribed for Winston, Fitzpatrick will be under center from the outset of Sunday's matchup against his previous squad, the Jets.

Fitzpatrick completed eight of 15 passes for 68 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 30-10 loss to the Saints. He also gained 30 yards on three rushes.
EDGE Analysis
Fitzpatrick came on in relief of Jameis Winston (shoulder) to open the second half and was able to generate one scoring drive, although it was only 19 yards in length and three plays in duration. The veteran backup also took two sacks and averaged a measly 4.5 yards per attempt, ultimately failing to run the Buccaneers offense with any degree of efficacy. Fitzpatrick could well be in for a multi-week stint as a starter if Winston is ultimately determined to need an extended respite. Based on his extensive NFL body of work, the 34-year-old is likely capable of putting together some productive outings in the short term, but a penchant for turnovers (135 career interceptions and 42 fumbles) is likely to eventually catch up with him. Winston's status figures to be clarified over the next few days, at which point Fitzpatrick's short-term fantasy outlook will also be determined.

Fitzpatrick completed 22 of 32 passes for 290 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 38-33 loss to the Cardinals. He also rushed three times for 10 yards.
EDGE Analysis
Fitzpatrick entered the contest in place of Jameis Winston (shoulder) with 5:31 remaining in the second quarter and the Bucs down by a 24-0 margin. The veteran led a 15-play, 70-yard drive that ended with a fourth-down misfire into the end zone from the Cardinals' 5-yard line, but it was harbinger of the success that Fitzpatrick would have in moving the offense down the field. Tampa's comeback began in earnest with an eight-play, 75-yard march in the third quarter that culminated in an 11-yard Fitzpatrick-DeSean Jackson end-zone connection, and subsequently included touchdown passes of 10 and 37 yards to Cameron Brate and Mike Evans, respectively. While Fitzpatrick also hurt the cause with a pair of picks, he certainly helped keep the prospect of an unlikely win viable until a failed onside kick in the game's waning moments. With Winston's status for Week 7 murky, the possibility Fitzpatrick logs at least one start in his stead remains very much in play for the time being.

Fitzpatrick completed seven of 11 passes for 55 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions in Saturday's 13-9 preseason loss to the Browns.
EDGE Analysis
Jameis Winston played through the first series of the second half, leaving Fitzpatrick with a modest amount of playing time. The veteran was in a fairly heated battle with Ryan Griffin for the No. 2 quarterback job, but the latter's shoulder injury in the preseason opener against the Bengals essentially clinched the job for Fitzpatrick. Undrafted free agent Sefo Liufau should see the majority of snaps in Thursday's exhibition finale against the Redskins as per Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, but Fitzpatrick may start the game and play at least one series.

Fitzpatrick improved his command of the Bucs offense as training camp unfolded, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
There really wasn't doubt that the cerebral veteran would adjust to the new playbook, but there's apparently been a marked difference as training camp has unfolded. Fitzpatrick has been exhibiting the telltale signs of an improved grasp of the system, namely, consistently quicker releases and better timing with his receivers. While the Bucs naturally would prefer not have to see Fitzpatrick take a snap this season -- as that would likely only come to pass in the event of a Jameis Winston injury -- it's imperative to have a backup capable of stepping in and keeping the offense functional.

Fitzpatrick completed six of 13 passes for 45 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in Friday's 23-12 preseason loss to the Bengals. He also gained 15 yards and scored a touchdown on two rushes.
EDGE Analysis
Fitzpatrick entered the contest as the second quarterback, taking over for starter Jameis Winston on the third series. While he was generally lackluster through the air, the veteran used his legs to scamper into the end zone from six yards out with 2:51 remaining in the first half. Despite the generally tepid effort, the 34-year-old signal caller is undeniably in a position to benefit from the shoulder injury that fellow backup Ryan Griffin suffered in Friday's contest, and accordingly, he re-entered the game following the latter's exit.

Fitzpatrick remains in a hotly-contested battle with Ryan Griffin for the No. 2 quarterback job, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fitzpatrick has his competition outdistanced by a country mile when it comes to experience, but Griffin has outplayed him at times in practice thus far in camp. However, the battle to back up Jameis Winston is likely to go through the final preseason games, as both Fitzpatrick and Griffin are projected to see plenty of reps with which to make their case for the job.

Fitzpatrick signed with the Buccaneers on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Fitzpatrick's deal is for one year and worth $3 million, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. His signing comes after Mike Glennon joined the Bears earlier this offseason, leaving a vacancy behind Jameis Winston in the Bucs' quarterback ranks. Entering his 13th season, Fitzpatrick boasts plenty of starting experience, but after a disastrous 2016 campaign that included 12 touchdowns against 17 interceptions for the Jets, the 34-year-old seems likely to be a backup for the remainder of his career.
