Jones carried the ball four times for just one yard in Saturday's preseason opener against the Bears.
EDGE Analysis
Jones has been working as the team's No. 2 running back in camp, and it played out that way against the Bears. Jones' first carry didn't come until the team's third series, and he wasn't able to do much with his limited touches.

Jones has been the No. 2 running back for much of training camp, ESPN's Adam Teicher reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Jerick McKinnon and Isiah Pacheco also have seen some first-team snaps, it sounds like Jones is usually the next guy up behind returning starter Clyde Edwards-Helaire. The Chiefs are giving CEH another shot as the starter, by all accounts, but the 2020 first-round pick is on a shorter leash after opening his career with a pair of mediocre seasons. While subpar receiving skills might limit Jones to a committee role in Kansas City's pass-first offense even in a best-case scenario, Jones could end up as the lead rusher if Edwards-Helaire struggles and/or misses time.

Jones (ankle) will sign a one-year contract with the Chiefs, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After a career-best 978 rushing yards in 2020, Jones fell behind Leonard Fournette in the rotation last season, finishing the campaign with only 101 carries for 428 yards and four touchdowns. He's landed in a pretty favorable spot, joining a running back room that's proven to be underwhelming so far. Jones should have an opportunity to compete for reps alongside Clyde Edwards-Helaire, especially with Darrel Williams on the free-agent market.

Jones (ankle) won't play in Sunday's game against the Rams, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jones will miss a second consecutive playoff game. Leonard Fournette (hamstring) is still on IR, and the Buccaneers have until 4 p.m. EST on Saturday to activate him. Fournette will likely lead the Buccaneers' backfield if available. Otherwise, Ke'Shawn Vaughn and Giovani Bernard (hip/knee) will split the workload in the divisional round, just as they did with both Jones and Fournette sidelined in the wild-card round win over the Eagles. If the Buccaneers advance to the NFC Championship, Jones would have an opportunity to make his return next week.

Jones (ankle) missed another practice Friday and thus appears unlikely to play this Sunday against the Rams, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Jones will almost certainly miss at least one more game, Bucs coach Bruce Arians said Friday that Leonard Fournette (IR/hamstring) has looked good in practice this week, avoiding setbacks as he hopes to play for the first time since Week 15. If both Jones and Fournette are out again, the Bucs likely would repeat their plan from the wild-card round, deploying Ke'Shawn Vaughn as the lead runner and Giovani Bernard as the passing-down back.

Jones (ankle) didn't practice Thursday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
There were positive signs from Jones earlier Thursday, when he was seen running at the back of the practice field, per Laine. However, Jones hasn't been able to cut on his ankle sprain since injuring himself Week 17 at the Jets. With just one more session to mix into drills this week, he may be trending toward a third absence in a row Sunday against the Rams. If the preceding comes to pass, the Bucs again may have to lean on Ke'Shawn Vaughn and Giovani Bernard (hip/knee) at running back because Leonard Fournette (hamstring) remains on injured reserve.

Jones (ankle) didn't take part in Wednesday's practice.
EDGE Analysis
Jones has yet to step on the practice field since injuring his ankle Week 17 at the Jets. As for the rest of the Buccaneers backfield, Leonard Fournette (hamstring) remains on injured reserve, and Giovani Bernard was a limited participant Wednesday, leaving Ke'Shawn Vaughn, Le'Veon Bell and practice squad member Kenjon Barner as the healthy players at the position. Until Jones joins his teammates in some drills, he doesn't seem like a candidate to be available for Sunday's divisional-round matchup with the Rams.

Jones (ankle) won't play in Sunday's wild-card game against the Eagles, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jones wasn't able to practice all week before head coach Bruce Arians ruled him out Friday for the postseason opener. With Leonard Fournette (hamstring) and Giovani Bernard (hip/knee) both hoping to come back from injured reserve this weekend -- and both shaping up as potential game-time decisions -- it's hard to discern what the Tampa Bay backfield will look like for the wild-card round. Last week, with both Jones and Fournette out, Ke'Shawn Vaughn took 12 touches for 41 yards and a touchdown, with Le'Veon Bell adding four touches for 15 yards and a score of his own in the Buccaneers' 41-17 win over Carolina. Vaughn took 45 percent of the offensive snaps in the contest, with Bell at 38 percent and Kenjon Barner taking 15 percent.

Jones (ankle) wasn't spotted on the field during the portion of Friday's practice that was open to the media, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jones hasn't practiced since suffering an ankle injury Week 17. Meanwhile, Leonard Fournette (hamstring) and Giovani Bernard (hip) remain on injured reserve but have both resumed practicing this week, though at this stage it's unclear if either tailback will be activated ahead of Saturday's deadline for roster moves. In any case, Jones seems unlikely to be available for Sunday's wild-card game against the Eagles, leaving Ke'Shawn Vaughn and Le'Veon Bell to handle the backfield work should Fournette and Bernard remain sidelined.

Jones (ankle) didn't practice Thursday, Carmen Vitali of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jones has yet to take the field since injuring his ankle during a Week 17 win at the Jets. Elsewhere in the backfield, the Bucs are preparing both Leonard Fournette (hamstring) and Giovani Bernard (hip) for a return from injured reserve, but it remains to be seen if either will be activated by Saturday's 4:00 p.m. ET deadline. Assuming one or both are back on the active roster Sunday against the Eagles, he (or they) will join Ke'Shawn Vaughn and Le'Veon Bell at running back while Jones likely looks on from the sideline.
