Tonyan (knee) hasn't been cleared for team drills yet, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tonyan thus figures to be out for Thursday's preseason finale against Kansas City, with his status for Week 1 at Minnesota in serious question. He could be a big part of Green Bay's passing game this year, but not necessarily early in the season.

Tonyan (knee) is slated to return to practice Sunday, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the tight end bouncing back from a torn ACL that he suffered Week 8 last season, coach Matt LaFleur relayed that Tonyan won't participate in team drills in his return to the field, with individual drill and walkthroughs initially on tap for for the 28-year-old, who logged an 18-204-2 line on 29 targets through eight outings in 2021.

The Packers placed Tonyan (knee) on the active/PUP list Friday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tonyan was putting together a lackluster follow-up to his 2020 breakout when he was lost for the season Week 8 last fall, the result of a torn ACL in his left knee. Overall, he hauled in 18 of 29 targets for 204 yards and two touchdowns in eight appearances, after going for 52-586-11 on 59 targets the previous year. Regarding Friday's development, it comes as no surprise, as the tight end was unable to participate in the offseason program, making him an iffy prospect to be available Week 1 at Minnesota. If Tonyan isn't cleared by that point, Green Bay will rely on Josiah Deguara, Marcedes Lewis, Tyler Davis and Dominique Dafney at the position in the early going.

Tonyan's (knee) availability for the Packers' season opener against the Vikings is still is unclear after he spent OTAs and minicamp rehabbing off to the side, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tonyan's lack of participation so far this offseason comes as no surprise given he is just over eight months out from suffering a torn ACL late last October. The Packers likely will take their time in bringing the 28-year-old tight end back, as the team needs him to fill a more prominent role in the passing game after the loss of star wideout Davante Adams. Backup tight ends Josiah Deguara, Marcedes Lewis and Tyler Davis combined for 39 catches, 358 receiving yards and two touchdowns without Tonyan in the lineup over the final nine games of the 2021 season, and these three should rotate to help fill in if Tonyan is unable to go by Week 1.

Tonyan (knee) wasn't cleared for practice at June minicamp, SI.com's Bill Huber reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is expected, as Tonyan is less than eight months removed from suffering an ACL tear in late October. He'll hit the nine-month mark around the time Green Bay opens training camp, and while Tonyan figures to be absent or limited initially, he has a chance to be ready for Week 1. Reports earlier this offseason suggested the Packers view him as being ahead of schedule in the rehab process, so it might not be long before he re-emerges as a key target for QB Aaron Rodgers in the red zone -- this time in an offense without Davante Adams.

Tonyan (knee) was spotted rehabbing off to the side during the Packers' OTA on Tuesday, Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tonyan tore his left ACL in Week 8 last season and has reportedly been ahead of schedule during his rehab, but it remains to be seen if he'll be ready by Week 1. The undrafted tight end out of Indiana State re-signed with Green Bay on a one-year deal in mid-March, and if healthy, he could play an increased role in the Packers' passing game in the absence of Davante Adams. Tonyan's status during training camp in July should give a better indication as to whether or not he'll be available to start the regular season.

The Packers consider Tonyan (knee) to be ahead of schedule in his recovery from a left ACL tear, Zach Kruse of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
General manager Brian Gutekunst said the team doesn't "have a real timetable" on Tonyan's recovery, but it appears that the top tight end could have a shot to retake the field early in the 2022 campaign, potentially even by Week 1. Tonyan re-signed with the Packers on a one-year contract mid-March, just following the team's trade of Davante Adams to the Raiders. Considering the void left by Adams on offense, Tonyan figures to handle a key role in the passing game even if Green Bay makes notable additions to the wide receiver room as the offseason continues.

The Packers and Tonyan (knee) agreed to a one-year contract Saturday, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Since Green Bay sent Davante Adams to the Raiders on Thursday, the team has used the open cap space to bring back two of its own from last season (Tonyan and cornerback Rasul Douglas) and an outsider (punter Pat O'Donnell, formerly of the Bears). Tonyan is in the midst of his recovery from a torn ACL that he suffered Week 8, meaning his status will be one to watch as the offseason goes on. Considering the timeline for such recoveries, he could be ready for Week 1 of the upcoming campaign. If not, though, the Packers will continue to lean on Josiah Deguara, Marcedes Lewis, Tyler Davis and Dominique Dafney at tight end.

The Packers placed Tonyan (knee) on injured reserve Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Tonyan's move to IR was fully expected after head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed over the weekend that the tight end suffered a season-ending ACL tear in the Packers' Week 8 win over the Cardinals. On Monday, LaFleur named Josiah Deguara as a candidate to take on an increased role sans Tonyan, while Marcedes Lewis and Dominique Dafney are also likely to see upticks in snaps at tight end.

Tonyan (knee) was diagnosed with an ACL tear on Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The tight end went down grabbing his left knee after a long reception in the third quarter of Thursday's 24-21 win over the Cardinals. It didn't look good at the time, and agent Jack Bechta has since confirmed that his client will miss the rest of the season. Bechta did provide one possible silver lining, noting that Tonyan suffered an isolated tear with no lateral damage. It's still a season-ending injury, but that could help Tonyan's recovery/rehab process next offseason. Meanwhile, the Packers are left with Marcedes Lewis, Josiah Deguara, Dominique Dafney and Tyler Davis at tight end.
