Now entering his eighth NFL campaign, Loadholt's spot in the starting lineup is no guarantee. He and Andre Smith, who the team signed in the offseason, have split reps to this point and will compete for the starting position throughout training camp.

Minnesota Vikings offensive tackle Phil Loadholt was placed on Injured Reserve on Tuesday after tearing his Achilles tendon during Saturday's preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Loadholt was expected to be the starting right tackle after missing the final five games of the 2014 season with a torn pectoral muscle.

Loadholt (shoulder) said there is no question that he'll be ready for training camp, the Star Tribune reports.Loadholt was placed on injured reserve after tearing his pectoral in Week 12. He hopes to be ready for some of the Vikings' spring activities, and he doesn't seem to be worried about returning to full health by Week 1. With two years remaining on his contract, Loadholt will likely open the 2015 season as Minnesota's starting right tackle.

Loadholt tore his pectoral in the Vikings' Week 12 loss to the Packers and will require season-ending surgery. J'Marcus Webb was signed to the 53-man roster in Loadholt's place.

Loadholt will have an MRI on his shoulder after getting injured in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to Green Bay, ESPN reports.
Mike Harris replaced Loadholt and would likely start this week if Loadholt is out. Losing Loadholt would be a big blow to an offensive line that has struggled.

Loadholt left Saturday's preseason win over Kansas City with a lower leg injury, but head coach Mike Zimmer said he didn't think it was serious, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Loadholt is a key cog in Minnesota's offensive line as the starting right tackle, so hopefully this isn't serious.
