Vikings RT Phil Loadholt (concussion) has been ruled out for Thursday night's Week 10 game against the Redskins. Loadholt was concussed last Sunday against the Cowboys. J'Marcus Webb will get the start in his place and see a lot of Ryan Kerrigan. Webb played 34 snaps last week and surrendered a strip-sack touchdown on his first play.

ESPN 1500 Twin Cities hears the Vikings and free agent RT Phil Loadholt are "close" to a new deal. It sounds like Loadholt will be staying in Minnesota, paving the way on the right side for Adrian Peterson. The division rival Bears tried to hop in the Loadholt mix and make it interesting. The Vikings couldn't let him get away after dealing Percy Harvin on Monday.

ESPN 1500 Twin Cities reports the Bears' interest in free agent RT Phil Loadholt is "legitimate" and they are offering more money than the Vikings. Per Vikings beat writer Tom Pelissero, Minnesota doesn't intend to offer Loadholt more than $5 million a year. The $5 million figure would be solid for a right tackle, but by no means one of the bigger contracts in the league at that position. A day after dealing Percy Harvin, the Vikings appear to be at risk of losing another integral offensive piece. Loadholt is a 27-year-old mauler.

A source tells the Chicago Tribune that the Bears are "hot" on free agent RT Phil Loadholt. Under new coach Marc Trestman, the Bears have made protecting Jay Cutler a priority. Signing the mauling 6'8/343 Loadholt would be a strong step in that direction. Even if the Bears can't lure Loadholt in, they'll perhaps raise the pricetag for the Vikings to retain him. It's a win-win situation for Chicago.

ESPN 1500 Twin Cities reports the Vikings "continue to work" on a new deal with free agent RT Phil Loadholt, but it's "unclear" if the sides will reach a deal before the start of free agency. Keeping their mauling right tackle was thought to be a priority for the Vikings, but there's now just 21 hours between him and the open market. The Vikes will hardly be out of the running for Loadholt's services if he officially becomes a free agent, but it would complicate talks.

CBS' Jason La Canfora reports the Vikings will not use the franchise tag on free agent RT Phil Loadholt. ESPN 1500 Twin Cities reported as much last month, saying the Vikings would prefer to work out a long-term deal with their mauling right tackle. Loadholt would have been guaranteed $9.8 million under the tag.

ESPN 1500 Twin Cities believes free agent RT Phil Loadholt is a "plausible candidate" for the franchise tag, but that the Vikings prefer a long-term deal. According to beat writer Tom Pelissero, the Vikings' "fear" is that Loadholt will immediately sign the tender and lock himself in at the franchise price of $9.7 million for tackles. In other words, the Vikings want Loadholt back, but not at an elite-tackle price. Whether it's via the tag or a multi-year deal, Loadholt is expected to remain in Minnesota.

GM Rick Spielman reiterated that he wants to re-sign free agent RT Phil Loadholt. One of the unsung heroes in Adrian Peterson's miraculous 2012 season, Loadholt is a candidate for a major payday. He's missed just one start in his four-year career and is one of the game's premier run-blockers at 6'8/343. "Continuity is a huge part of it on the offensive line because those guys have to work as one unit and they have to know each other inside and out," Spielman said. "We'd love to keep Phil Loadholt, so we'll try to do everything we can to keep Phil Loadholt but we also have a lot of guys we'd like to keep."
