Coach Mike Tomlin said Friday that he'll wait until Saturday to make a decision between Trubisky and Mason Rudolph to replace Kenny Pickett (doubtful - concussion) as the starting quarterback for Sunday's game at Carolina, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Trubisky subbed in for Pickett after the latter entered the concussion protocol last Sunday against the Ravens, completing 22 of 30 passes for 276 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in a 16-14 loss. While the performance was mistake-prone, Trubisky also posted 9.2 yards per attempt on the backs of three completions of 20-plus yards. Trubisky and Rudolph split first-team reps in practice all week, so Tomlin seemingly has all the info he needs to make a call between the two, but it won't be known until some point Saturday. Whoever gets the nod will be facing the Panthers' 15th-ranked pass defense (214.7 yards per game).

Trubisky completed 22 of 30 passes for 276 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in Sunday's 16-14 loss to the Ravens.
EDGE Analysis
Trubisky entered the game in relief of Kenny Pickett (concussion) late in the first quarter. While he put up plenty of yardage, Trubisky doomed the Steelers to a loss with an ugly three-interception performance -- two of which occurred deep in Baltimore territory. While Trubisky won't be fantasy relevant in most traditional formats, he could provide a boost to Diontae Johnson, George Pickens and Pat Freiermuth if Pickett is unable to return in time for a Week 15 matchup against the Panthers.

Trubisky completed nine of 12 pass attempts for 144 yards and a touchdown while rushing six times for five yards during the Steelers' 20-18 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Trubisky served as a backup for a second consecutive week but was needed in relief when Kenny Pickett exited with a concussion midway through the third quarter. After struggling with inefficiency earlier in the season, Trubisky was strong down the stretch to help lead Pittsburgh to its second win of the 2022 campaign. It wouldn't be surprising to see Pickett reclaim his starting role once he's deemed fully healthy, but Trubisky should serve as the Steelers' starting quarterback next Sunday against Miami if Pickett is unable to clear the league's concussion protocol in time for the game.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed Tuesday that Trubisky will serve as the team's backup quarterback Week 5 in Buffalo while Kenny Pickett takes over as the starter, Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The writing was on the wall for Trubisky's demotion to the No. 2 role after he was benched for the second half of Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Jets, with Pickett stepping in to engineer two scoring drives to give the Steelers a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter that the team ultimately couldn't maintain. Even though Pickett threw three interceptions on the afternoon, he completed his other 10 passes for 120 yards in addition to scoring twice on the ground, and the spark he provided was enough for the Steelers to move the rookie first-round pick into the starting role. While playing every snap on offense in the Steelers' first three and a half games of the season, Trubisky guided the team to a 1-2 record and completed only 59.5 percent of his throws for 5.6 yards per attempt.

Trubisky completed seven of 13 pass attempts for 84 yards, no touchdowns and an interception while rushing once for one yard during the Steelers' 24-20 loss to the Jets on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Trubisky had an inefficient first half during Sunday's matchup, and the Steelers trailed 10-6 at halftime. As a result, the team turned to rookie Kenny Pickett at quarterback to begin the second half. Pickett threw three interceptions, but he had 120 passing yards while tallying two rushing touchdowns as the Steelers nearly secured a comeback win. Trubisky has failed to propel the Steelers' offense much over the first four weeks of the season, so it certainly seems possible that he'll have to settle for a backup role moving forward.

Trubisky completed 20 of 32 passes for 207 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and rushed twice for seven yards and a touchdown in the Steelers' 29-17 loss to the Browns on Thursday night.
EDGE Analysis
The Steelers' lackluster offensive performance will once again be the subject of plenty of scrutiny, but Trubisky actually turned in his most efficient performance yet in a Pittsburgh uniform. The 2017 second overall pick showed impressive chemistry with Diontae Johnson once again while connecting with him for eight completions and 84 yards, and he hit six different targets on the night overall. Trubisky looked effective running the no-huddle offense in the first half as well, and he notched a completion of at least 20 yards to each of Chase Claypool, George Pickens and Pat Freiermuth, an encouraging sign the veteran signal-caller may be getting more comfortable in the offense. Notably, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports head coach Mike Tomlin answered "definitively no" when asked if he'd consider making a playcaller and/or quarterback change over the team's 10-day layoff, leaving Trubisky to continue getting in sync with his pass catchers ahead of a Week 4 home matchup against the Jets a week from Sunday.

Trubisky completed 21 of 33 pass attempts for 168 yards, a touchdown and an interception while rushing once for seven yards during Sunday's 17-14 loss to the Patriots.
EDGE Analysis
Trubisky was efficient during the preseason, but he hasn't had the same kind of success over the Steelers' first two games in the regular season. He's completed just 59.2 percent of his pass attempts and has been held under 200 yards in each of his first two games with Pittsburgh. Although the Steelers won their regular-season opener and were competitive against New England, they'll need more production from Trubisky if they hope to contend in the talented AFC North this season. The team will have a short week prior to Thursday's Week 3 matchup in Cleveland.

Trubisky completed 21 of 38 pass attempts for 194 yards and one touchdown in an overtime win against Cincinnati on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
No turnovers is a good thing, but Trubisky was unacceptably ineffective as a passer in this game, as he repeatedly missed opportunities and made inaccurate throws the few times he did recognize a passing opportunity. Though they pulled out a victory in Week 1 thanks largely to five turnovers by opposing quarterback Joe Burrow, the Steelers will need Trubisky to play better going forward if they hope to be competitive in 2022. They play at home against a reeling New England squad in Week 2.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced Tuesday that Trubisky will open the season as the team's starting quarterback Sunday in Cincinnati.
EDGE Analysis
All signs had been pointing to Trubisky beginning the season as the team's No. 1 QB for a while. After he started each of the Steelers' three preseason games, Trubisky was then named a team captain Monday and was listed atop the team's initial Week 1 depth chart. Tomlin went on to confirm that rookie Kenny Pickett will begin the season as the Steelers' No. 2 quarterback, and his first-round pedigree and impressive preseason could mean that the veteran has a short leash if he struggles early on. For his part, Trubisky -- taken second overall in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Bears but now on his third organization -- performed efficiently in the Steelers' Aug. 28 preseason finale, completing 15 of 19 pass attempts for 160 yards and a touchdown.

Trubisky is listed first at quarterback on the Steelers' initial regular season depth chart, followed by Mason Rudolph and Kenny Pickett, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
At this stage, coach Mike Tomlin hasn't made any official announcement on the team's Week 1 starting QB, but it looks like Trubisky is trending toward getting the nod Sunday against the Bengals. Per James Palmer of NFL Network, Tomlin is scheduled to do his weekly news conference Tuesday, at which point it's possible he'll officially confirm Pittsburgh's QB pecking order.
