Raiders coach Dennis Allen may stick with former coach Hue Jackson's plan to move FS Michael Huff to cornerback in 2012.
Due a $4 million roster bonus on March 16 in addition to his fully guaranteed $4 million 2012 salary, Huff will have to survive cuts before the talk of him switching positions can become official. A cornerback in college, Huff struggled mightily last season coming off a stellar 2010.

Raiders FS Michael Huff's 2012 base salary of $4 million is fully guaranteed.
He also has a $4 million roster bonus due on March 16. While the Raiders are in cap-clearance mode, they'd have to eat a large chunk of money to get out of Huff's deal. Huff played well when healthy last year, so it remains to be seen whether he's even on GM Reggie McKenzie's chopping block. Over the past three seasons, Huff has caused 11 turnovers with 4.5 sacks and 25 pass breakups.

In addition to CB Stanford Routt, Raiders FS Michael Huff, DT Tommy Kelly, DT John Henderson, CB Chris Johnson, and OG Cooper Carlisle are candidates for release.
Routt was simply the canary in the coal mine. New GM Reggie McKenzie made it clear last week that he would make moves to adjust a roster with "out of whack" contracts. Huff ($4 million salary + $4 million bonus), Kelly ($6 million), Henderson ($4 million), and Johnson ($3.5 million) could be on the way out as the Raiders overhaul a defense that set franchise-worst records for TD passes allowed, yards per carry, yards passing and total yards.

The Raiders reportedly plan to move FS Michael Huff back to cornerback in 2012.
Huff was considered a corner/safety hybrid entering the league, but the switch is a lot to ask six years into his career. It's the "first of many changes expected in the offseason," says beat writer Steve Corkran. Defensive boss Chuck Bresnahan is full expected to be fired after failing to maximize his talent in 2011.

Raiders FS Michael Huff (hamstring) guaranteed he'll play against the Chargers.
Huff has missed the last two games. "This is a one-game season," Huff said. "I'm not going to miss this one." The Raiders need a win and a loss by the Broncos to win the AFC West.

Raiders declared FS Michael Huff, RB Darren McFadden, QB Jason Campbell, QB Terrelle Pryor, OL Bruce Campbell, CB Chris Johnson, and CB DeMarcus Van Dyke inactive for Week 10 against the Chargers.
Huff (ankle) said earlier in the week that he needed only to be 30 percent healthy in order to play. He must have fallen below that threshold. Huff plays on nickel downs and has fared well against the Chargers, so it's a big loss.

Raiders FS Michael Huff (concussion) will be active for Week 5.
"Oh, yeah, good to go," Huff said. "One hundred percent this week." Huff's absence in Week 4 was his first since being the No. 7 overall pick of the 2006 draft. Coming off a big 2010, Huff is off to a slow start this season, notching just 10 tackles to go along with zero interceptions or sacks in his first three games.

Raiders FS Michael Huff (concussion) practiced on a limited basis Wednesday.
Huff missed the first game of his career in Week 4 after regressing as last week moved along. Consider him questionable for Sunday's game against the Andre Johnson-less Texans.

Raiders FS Michael Huff (concussion) has practiced for two straight days.
Huff must have aced his concussion tests early in the week. Barring a setback, he'll be available and in the starting lineup against the Patriots' league-best passing game.

Raiders FS Michael Huff was shaken up early in the first quarter of Sunday's Week 3 game against the Jets with a head injury.
He was replaced by Joe Porter and Matt Giordano. Huff was limited with a groin injury in Week 2, and the 2010 All-Pro can't seem to stay on the field. His exit could tip the scales in this game.
