Gallup is healthy heading into Week 1 and could be ready to put together his best season since 2020, Saad Yousef and Jon Machota of The Athletic report.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old wideout has seen his numbers decline the last two years in the aftermath of a torn ACL, but a healthy Gallup should provide Dak Prescott with a reliable option behind CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks. Gallup filled a similar role in 2020, with Amari Cooper instead of Cooks as the receiver ahead of him on the depth chart, and turned 105 targets into a 59-843-5 line. Similar production in 2023 seems plausible if he, and Prescott, can stay on the field.

Gallup (knee/ankle) said Wednesday that he feels "springy again" after dealing with knee soreness for much of last year, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
His recovery from arthroscopic knee and ankle procedures in January unsurprisingly was much easier than his rehab from surgery on an ACL tear the preceding February. Gallup made it back on the field less than eight months after his major surgery last year, missing only the first three games before suiting up for 16 in a row (including playoffs). The 27-year-old seems to be healthy now and should improve on his 2022 career-low averages of 30.3 yards per game and 5.7 yards per target, but Gallup doesn't project for much volume as the likely third option at WR after the Cowboys traded for Brandin Cooks in the offseason. They also brought in an offensive coordinator who is considered more run-focused than predecessor Kellen Moore, though the Cowboys' other offseason moves don't lend to the notion of a higher rush rate under new OC Brian Schottenheimer.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy has told Gallup (knee/ankle) that he will be featured more in 2023, according to Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News.
EDGE Analysis
We should believe it when we see it. Gallup tore his ACL late in 2021 and missed the first three games of the 2022 campaign only to go on and average a career-low 30.3 yards per game and 10.9 yards per catch on 5.3 targets per contest. With the addition of Brandin Cooks as CeeDee Lamb's new sidekick and playing in an offense that wants to run the ball, Gallup will be fighting for leftover targets as the third option at best. He's not an exciting fantasy prospect headed into 2023 and is coming off of offseason clean-up surgeries on both his ankle and knee.

Gallup (knee/ankle) agreed to a restructured contract Monday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Recovering from offseason knee and ankle clean-up procedures, Gallup's restructure creates roughly $7 million in cap space for the Cowboys. Gallup had a disappointing 2022, catching just 39 passes for 424 yards and four touchdowns and averaging a career-low 10.9 yards per catch after tearing his ACL the previous year.

Gallup recently had arthroscopic procedures on his right knee and right ankle, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gallup picked up a left ankle injury during the 2021 opener and then suffered a torn ACL in his left knee Week 17 of that same season, which delayed his debut to Week 4 of the most recent campaign. He proceeded to play in every game thereafter, compiling a 44-470-5 line on 83 targets in 16 games, including two playoff contests. Now with a pair of surgeries on his other leg, Gallup again will embark on a rehab effort with the aim to be health for the 2023 season. He just completed the first year of a five-year extension, making he and CeeDee Lamb the top wide receivers for the Cowboys offense, barring offseason additions to the position group.

Gallup caught 39 of 74 targets for 424 yards and four touchdowns over 14 games in the 2022 regular season.
EDGE Analysis
The fifth-year wideout missed the first three games of the season while completing his recovery from ACL surgery, but given the disappointing numbers he ended up posting, it looks like the Cowboys may have rushed him back too soon. Gallup posted fewer yards in 2022 than he did the year before despite playing in five more games, and his only real impact came during a brief two-game stretch in Weeks 11 and 12 -- he set his season high for yards with 63 against the Giants, then followed that performance up with two TDs against the Colts. He did manage a 5-46-1 line on six targets in the wild-card win over the Buccaneers, but in general the 26-year-old never regained his pre-injury form, and he never got on the same page as Dak Prescott -- Gallup's average yards of separation and catch percentage both ranked in the bottom 12 in the NFL. He still has four more years left on the contract he signed last offseason, and a fairly significant dead cap hit in 2023 if he were to be cut loose, so Gallup should be back in Dallas next season. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him bumped down the depth chart by a significant offseason addition, however, as the front office looks to give CeeDee Lamb more reliable help.

Gallup caught one of six targets for 10 yards in Sunday's loss to the Commanders.
EDGE Analysis
It was a shockingly bad performance from Dak Prescott and the entire Dallas offense in the regular-season finale, and the team's depth wideouts behind CeeDee Lamb were dragged down by their QB's struggles. Gallup hasn't topped four catches or 40 receiving yards since Week 12 but somewhat salvaged his fantasy value with three TDs over the last six games, making him a risky option in Monday's wild-card clash with the Buccaneers.

Gallup secured three of four targets for 39 yards in the Cowboys' 27-13 win over the Titans on Thursday night.
EDGE Analysis
Gallup put together a serviceable night overall, but recent arrival T.Y. Hilton continued to poach some of the former's downfield role by producing a 4-50 line on five targets and recording a 28-yard grab along the way. Hilton's experience and fresh legs could continue allowing him to carve out more snaps at Gallup's expense, but further clarity may be gleaned on that front from their respective usage in a Week 18 road matchup against the Commanders a week from Sunday.

Gallup secured four of seven targets for 36 yards and a touchdown in the Cowboys' 40-34 win over the Eagles on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Gallup checked in third in receptions and targets on the afternoon while also recording his fourth touchdown of the season on a 12-yard grab late in the third quarter. Gallup has new competition for downfield work in veteran T.Y. Hilton, who tallied a 52-yard gain on his one catch in his team debut Saturday, but he should continue to hold down a solid complementary role in Thursday's favorable Week 17 road matchup against the Titans.

Gallup caught two of six targets for 40 yards in Sunday's win over the Texans.
EDGE Analysis
It was another quiet effort for Gallup, who was outperformed by Noah Brown on the afternoon. While Gallup has seen at least six targets in five of the last six contests, he has yet to top five catches or 63 yards in a game this season, only making a fantasy impact when he's been able to get into the end zone. With Brown still a factor and James Washington now pushing for snaps and targets, Gallup will be a risky option Week 15 against the Jaguars on Sunday.
