Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones said Monday that Gallup (calf) will return to practice this week, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Prior to the Cowboys' Week 7 bye, coach Mike McCarthy was optimistic that Gallup would be able to return to practice ahead of Sunday's game against the Vikings, and it appears as though the receiver will be designated to return from injured reserve. The Cowboys presumably will monitor the 25-year-old's status in practice prior to determining his availability for the Week 8 matchup, but he's making considerable progress toward a return.

Coach Mike McCarthy relayed that he's "hopeful" Gallup (calf) will resume practicing in a limited fashion in advance of the Cowboys' Oct. 31 contest versus the Vikings, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Cowboys will be on bye Week 7, but it looks like Gallup could be designated to return from IR leading up to Week 8 action. With that in mind, the wideout is worth adding by fantasy managers with roster flexibility in leagues where he's been cut loose. Gallup has been sidelined since straining his left calf during Dallas' season opener against Tampa Bay.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that he doesn't expect Gallup (calf) to practice this week, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The report essentially confirms that Gallup won't be returning from injured reserve when first eligible for Sunday's game against the Giants, after the wideout missed each of the last three weeks with the strained left calf. With Gallup set to sit out another contest, Cedrick Wilson should maintain a spot in three-receiver sets alongside Amari Cooper (hamstring/ribs) and CeeDee Lamb.

Gallup (calf) was placed on injured reserve Monday, Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gallup will miss a minimum of three weeks as a result of this move, so the earliest he could return will be Oct. 10 against the Giants, with Cedrick Wilson projected to slide into three-receiver sets in the mean time. Dallas also moved Randy Gregory to the reserve/COVID-19 list and activated Zack Martin and Brandon Knight from the reserve/COVID-19 list in a flurry of moves Monday.

Coach Mike McCarthy confirmed Friday that Gallup (calf) won't play Week 2 at the Chargers, David Helman of the Cowboys' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gallup suffered a left calf strain Thursday in Tampa Bay. Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reported Friday that Gallup will be out 3-to-5 weeks, implying he won't be available until October, at the earliest. That said, McCarthy merely called Gallup's injury a "multi-week" concern, so the Cowboys may keep him off injured reserve with the hope he's on the front end of the above timetable to return. While Gallup is sidelined, Cedrick Wilson will occupy the No. 3 wide receiver role behind Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb.

Gallup sustained a strained left calf during Thursday's loss at Tampa Bay and will be sidelined 3-to-5 weeks, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gallup exited in the second half Thursday with what was termed a left ankle issue at the time, but upon further evaluation the nature of the injury has been confirmed. The Cowboys thus won't have the fourth-year wide receiver available again until October, with his recovery ultimately determining when he gets back on the field. In the meantime, Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb should see plenty of volume, while Cedrick Wilson gets a boost in targets as well.

Gallup will be re-evaluated Friday after leaving Thursday's 31-29 loss to the Buccaneers with an ankle injury, Greg Auman of The Athletic report.
EDGE Analysis
Gallup stayed on the sidelines for the rest of the game, and he was spotted walking under his own power, albeit with a limp, after the contest concluded. The 25-year-old posted four receptions for 36 yards -- all in the first half -- before suffering this injury. If Gallup is unable to play in Week 2 against the Chargers, Cedrick Wilson will likely operate as the No. 3 wide receiver.

Gallup was forced out of Thursday's game against the Buccaneers with an ankle injury, David Moore of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gallup was off to a solid start with four receptions for 36 yards in the first half, but he was targeted just once in the third quarter before exiting the game. The severity of Gallup's injury is unclear. Fellow wideout Cedrick Wilson figures to handle extra reps in Gallup's place.

Gallup caught one of two targets for four yards in Saturday's preseason loss to the Texans.
EDGE Analysis
The Cowboys had their offensive starters out for the entire first quarter, but with Dak Prescott (shoulder) not one of them, there wasn't much production to go around in the passing game. Gallup is the clear third option in Dallas behind Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb, but if Prescott is healthy, that role could still lead to solid fantasy numbers.

Gallup has been getting work in the slot during training camp, Rob Phillips of DallasCowboys.com reports. "Everybody's labeled me as just a deep ball threat, but I know I can do a whole lot more," he said. "So me being able to come on the inside and run some routes from there, short, intermediate game, definitely can show that I'm more versatile than a lot of folks might think."
EDGE Analysis
The Cowboys already have two extremely capable options in the slot in CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper (ankle), so Gallup may not see a whole lot of action on the inside during the regular season, but anything that allows offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to get the best possible matchups for his elite trio of receivers can only help boost their numbers. Additional flexibility would also help improve Gallup's marketability as he heads into free agency next offseason. "It gives him more opportunities," head coach Mike McCarthy said. "I think right now, if you look at the position of X [outside receiver], how many routes can you really run from out there? The ability to get him the ball and the ability to take advantage of matchups, I think it's all part of his growth."
