McGloin (shoulder) will be active Saturday and serve as rookie quarterback Connor Cook's backup, ESPN's Adam Caplan reports.
EDGE Analysis
As originally expected, McGloin will be available Saturday behind Cook, with the Raiders electing not to activate No. 3 option Garrett Gilbert of their practice squad.

McGloin (shoulder) is expected to be active and back up rookie quarterback Connor Cook in Saturday's wild-card matchup against the Texans, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
McGloin was able to practice on a limited basis throughout the week, before ultimately being ruled questionable for the contest. The team signed Garret Gilbert to the practice squad earlier in the week in case McGloin could not go, but given his familiarity with the playbook, a semi-hobbled McGloin offers a better option as backup quarterback.

McGloin (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Saturday's playoff game against the Texans.
EDGE Analysis
McGloin's sore left shoulder caused him to be a limited participant during practice this week, but despite his questionable tag, the Raiders are optimistic he'll be able to suit up Saturday, ESPN's Adam Caplan reports. That comes as good news, since besides the injured Derek Carr (leg), McGloin is the only quarterback other than Connor Cook on Oakland's current roster. While Cook has already been named the team's starter for Saturday's playoff tilt, having a proper backup in McGloin is certainly something the Raiders will hope to have in place.

The Raiders listed McGloin (left shoulder) as a limited practice participant Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
McGloin's practice participation Wednesday opens up the possibility that he could serve in a backup capacity this weekend, but in any case, it's already been announced that Connor Cook will make his first career NFL start in Saturday's playoff game against the Texans.

McGloin (shoulder) is not expected to be ready for Saturday's playoff opener against the Texans, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
McGloin will still have a few days to improve his health prior to Saturday's game, but the early indication is that the shoulder injury he suffered in Week 17 will prevent him from suiting up this week. If that is indeed the case -- and with Derek Carr (leg) still out -- Connor Cook would get the start under center.

McGloin has undergone an MRI on his shoulder, which is just "sore," head coach Jack Del Rio told Scott Bair of CSN California reports.
EDGE Analysis
McGloin was knocked out of Sunday's loss at Denver after he was driven hard into the ground, bringing fellow quarterback Connor Cook to the fore. While the former was 6-for-11 passing for 21 yards, Cook actually directed the offense ably, completing 14 of 21 passes for one touchdown and one interception. According to Jimmy Durkin of the Bay Area News Group, Del Rio wouldn't speculate which QB may be under center Saturday in Houston, only stating, "We'll see." In reality, McGloin's ability to practice Wednesday may be the best indicator.

McGloin was replaced by Connor Cook in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Broncos after suffering a shoulder injury.
EDGE Analysis
Cook entered the game with the Raiders down by a 17-0 score and the status of McGloin will be now worth tracking closely, with the team's usual starting QB Derek Carr already out indefinitely with a leg injury.

McGloin will start at quarterback Sunday against the Broncos as the Raiders look to clinch home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, Eddie Paskal of the team's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
With usual starting quarterback Derek Carr sidelined for the next six-to-eight weeks as he recovers from a broken leg, McGloin will be in charge of leading Oakland in their quest for an AFC West title in Week 17 with a win over the Broncos. If the Raiders come away with a victory and New England loses, Oakland will also secure home-field advantage until the Super Bowl if they're able to survive and advance. Connor Cook will serve as McGloin's backup, while Amari Cooper (shoulder) and Michael Crabtree (ankle) are a bit banged up, but expected to play.

McGloin completed two of three pass attempts for 29 yards Saturday against the Colts.
EDGE Analysis
Starting quarterback Derek Carr suffered a broken leg Saturday and is likely in store to miss a period of time. Consequently, McGloin is slated to roll with the first-string unit for the time being. He unfortunately gets a tough draw in his first start of the season next week against the Broncos' top-ranked pass defense that has allowed just 183 yards through the air per game in 2016. Look for the Raiders to enter this matchup with a run-heavy mindset because Denver has only been middle of the pack against tailbacks this season, giving up an 18th-ranked 4.2 yards per carry.

McGloin completed 5 of his 11 passing attempts for 41 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Friday's preseason win over the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Although McGloin averaged just 3.7 yards per attempt, he led a pair of touchdown-scoring drives that finished with a 19-yard strike to Clive Walford and a short score to Andre Holmes, both in the first quarter. McGloin will have to duke it out with fourth-round pick Connor Cook for the top backup job heading into the regular season, but Friday's performance certainly didn't hurt his standing in the competition.
