ESPN's Tim Hasselbeck suggested on NFL Live Monday that the Titans are a "very real" potential landing spot for his brother, Matt. "And it would be a bold move to see him as a Tennessee Titan," said Tim. "They obviously don't want to start a rookie quarterback (Jake Locker). ... "It is a logical fit for (Matt) and I think it would surprise a lot of people." Tim acted as if this was the first time the Titans have been linked to his brother, but readers of this site know better. We'd consider Tennessee the front-runner for Hasselbeck, with Seattle a close second.

ESPN's John Clayton still believes free agent Matt Hasselbeck's most likely scenario is re-signing with Seattle. Clayton warns that "dynamics are changing almost by the day," however. If the rookie salary structure is overhauled, as expected, the Titans could afford to throw more money at a veteran quarterback. Now that Kerry Collins is out of the picture, Tennessee is "guaranteed" to at least pitch an offer to Hasselbeck.

Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times considers free agent Matt Hasselbeck "absolutely" a possibility to leave the Seahawks for Tennessee. O'Neil points to Hasselbeck's familiarity with Titans execs Mike Reinfeldt, Ruston Webster, and Lake Dawson, as well as the probability of a new rookie cap. If Jake Locker's salary is smaller than the No. 8 pick in the draft's normally would be, ponying up for Hasselbeck will be more financially feasible. Hasselbeck has likely risen on Tennessee's wish list following Kerry Collins' retirement. They couldn't hope for a better Locker mentor.

One "high-level" AFC executive is preparing for free agency to begin within 24 hours of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. FOX Sports Southwest's Matt Mosley expects teams to get "at least three days" to prepare for the signing and trading period, but it all depends on when and how a labor agreement is reached. At this point, we'd bet against there being an "exclusive window" for teams to re-sign their own free agents.

The Nashville Tennessean's Jim Wyatt advises to "keep Matt Hasselbeck on the radar" for the Titans this summer. "I'm talking about three members of the front office, all have ties to Seattle," Wyatt said. "They know Matt Hasselbeck. Likely Jake Locker knows Matt Hasselbeck because he's worked with him." Wytt expects the Titans to "make a run" at Hasselbeck, hoping the 35-year-old is willing to leave the West Coast. Fortunately for Titans fans, Kerry Collins is considered merely a fallback option.

Appearing on 710 Seattle Radio Thursday, ESPN's John Clayton said that the Seahawks have offered free agent Matt Hasselbeck a one-year, $7 million contract. Clayton was asked about the possibility of the Titans signing Hasselbeck, as has been heavily speculated in the national media. He estimated that No. 8 pick Jake Locker will be making $7-8 million in his first season. "(The Titans) are not gonna offer $7 million -- which is what Hasselbeck's been offered (by Seattle) -- and then have $14 million tied up in the quarterback position, and then really just have Matt as a transitional guy. ... I think Kerry Collins would be willing to accept $3, 4 or 5 million." Clayton, wrong more often than right these days, still believes the Seahawks will re-sign Hasselbeck.
