Elam's drug charges stemming from a February arrest were dropped Monday, ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Elam was pulled over for reckless driving before police booked him on charges of marijuana possession, possession with intent to sell or deliver and possession of a controlled substance. However, all those charges were dropped Monday, clearing Elam of any wrongdoing. While that obviously comes as good news for the 25-year-old, it also follows Elam having charges of grand theft and battery stemming from a May incident dropped last week. With no pending legal situations anymore, Elam seemingly now has a better chance of signing with a team, but the free agent's mere four tackles in nine games last season remains a concern.

Elam was arrested on charges of larceny and battery outside of Miami on Monday, Jorge Milian of The Palm Beach Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Elam was involved in a dispute with a woman over the possession of a cell phone and both fell to the ground, with the woman suffering minor cuts to her finger and ankle. This marks his second instance of legal trouble this offseason and likely serves as yet another ding to his prospects of landing another NFL contract.

Elam was arrested on three drug-related charges in Miami on Sunday, NFL.com's Jeremy Bergman reports.
EDGE Analysis
Elam was initially pulled over for reckless driving early Sunday morning, but police booked him on charges of marijuana possession, possession with intent to sell or deliver and possession of a controlled substance. The former first-round pick appeared in nine games as a backup for the Ravens last season, collecting four tackles. He's set to become a free agent in March after the Ravens declined his fifth-year option, but the arrest could hurt his chances of landing with a team.

Elam (knee) was elevated back to the Ravens' active roster on Saturday having been taken off the IR-R list, Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Elam, who injured his knee during the preseason and underwent minor surgery to correct the issue, figures to once again serve as a backup safety upon his return to the lineup. The team was forced to release reserve cornerback Robertson Daniel in order to fit Elam on the active roster.

Elam (knee) was brought back from the injured reserve list Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Each team is allowed to take one player off of the IR each season, giving Elam the opportunity to begin practicing again on Tuesday. The safety now has 21 days to be activated to the 53-man roster or placed back on injured reserve, should he not be ready to play yet. He will be eligible to return for Thursday night's tilt with the Browns on Nov. 10, as he has to wait two weeks before he can participate in a game. In the meantime, Anthony Levine and Marqueston Huff will continue to serve as the only backup safeties on the depth chart.

Elam (knee) was placed on injured reserve on Monday, ESPN's Jamison Hensley reports.
EDGE Analysis
Elam injured his knee in the second week of the preseason, requiring a clean-up surgery that wasn't expected to end his season. Although he should be healthy before the end of the year, Elam may stay on IR through the end of the season, as he was merely competing for backup role prior to getting injured. The 32nd overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft has been either ineffective, injured or benched throughout his rookie contract.

Elam fell on his knee during Saturday's preseason win over the Colts, and he'll need surgery to clean out the issue as a result.
EDGE Analysis
Elam's injury isn't season-ending according to coach John Harbaugh, but it should keep the Ravens' safety out for an extended period of time. His absence won't have too much of an impact in terms of the team's secondary, with Eric Weddle and Lardarius Webb positioned as the starting safeties. An update regarding Elam's return timetable should become available when more information is released following his surgery.

The Ravens will not pick up the fifth-year option on Elam's (biceps) rookie contract, the Baltimore Sun's Jeff Zrebiec reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 32nd overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, Elam struggled mightily through his first two seasons, then missed all of 2015 with a torn biceps. He should be healthy for training camp but will likely just compete for backup role. The Ravens signed Eric Weddle to start at one safety spot, and they're expected to test out converted cornerback Lardarius Webb at the other.

Elam will have to compete with Will Hill, Kendrick Lewis and Terrence Brooks (knee) for playing time in 2015, the Ravens' official website reports. Will Hill seems like a near-lock to start, with Kendrick Lewis the favorite to grab the other starting job. Elam, a first-round pick in 2013, regressed badly during his sophomore season, following a solid but unspectacular rookie campaign. He was the weakest link in a shaky secondary, struggling with both his tackling and coverage. Elam reportedly lost eight pounds of body fat in the offseason, but showing up in improved shape won't be enough on its own. Once you throw 2014 third-round pick Terrence Brooks (knee) into the mix, it's pretty clear Elam will need an excellent training camp and preseason to earn a starting spot, despite having the first-round pedigree.

Elam had two tackles (one solo) in Sunday's win over the Titans. Darian Stewart and Will Hill started at safety, while Elam and Terrence Brooks got some snaps off the bench. With the Ravens likely to use the same approach after a Week 11 bye, Elam won't be playing enough snaps for IDP consideration. The Ravens don't seem to be giving up on the 2013 first-round pick entirely, but his long-term outlook has dampened considerably over the last few months.
