Saints head coach Sean Payton said Monday that the team is happy with its current crop of wide receivers. They haven't spoken with any veteran wideouts according to Payton. Though it's not a direct indication that Lance Moore (groin) will be healthy enough to play on Sunday against the Bears, it certainly doesn't look bad for his chances. Adrian Arrington will see time when the Saints go three-wide if Moore stays sidelined.

Saints coach Sean Payton indicated Friday that Lance Moore (groin) wasn't close to playing in Thursday night's game. "We kind of knew before the plane was going to leave," said Payton. "The nature of his injury was one that we felt collectively that a setback would be one that you almost start all over again. ... I don't know if he was close." Moore looks questionable heading to Week 2 against Chicago. The extended layoff between Thursday night and next Sunday can't hurt Moore's chances.

Saints declared WR Lance Moore, K Garrett Hartley, RB Joique Bell, C Matt Tennant, CB Johnny Patrick, TE John Gilmore, and DT Tom Johnson inactive for Thursday's NFL opener against the Packers. Devery Henderson is still listed as the starting Z receiver opposite Marques Colston, though Robert Meachem will see plenty of snaps as well. Rotoworld ranks Meachem 44th among fantasy receivers this week. John Kasay will handle field goal duties with Hartley out.

The Saints have ruled out Lance Moore (groin) for Thursday night's NFL opener against the Packers. The Saints won't even test out Moore's groin in pre-game warmups; he won't play. Marques Colston, Robert Meachem, and Devery Henderson will be the Saints' top three wide receivers against the Packers. It's worth noting that Moore did not play in New Orleans' third preseason game, when Saints starters were in for most of the first half. Jimmy Graham lapped the field with eight targets and a team-high five catches for 73 yards. Meachem was a distant second option, finishing with three catches for 61 yards on four targets. Be sure to have Graham in your starting lineup Thursday night.

Lance Moore (groin) was held out of practice again on Tuesday. Beat writer Mike Triplett expects Moore to be listed as "questionable" Wednesday, though coach Sean Payton did allow that Moore is the type of player who can "mentally handle" playing Thursday's opener without practicing all week. This could come down to a game-time decision.

Lance Moore (groin) missed Saints practice Monday ahead of Thursday's NFL opener against the Packers. Moore was back in practice late last week. Either the Saints are just exercising as much caution as possible with three days left before their Week 1 game, or Moore suffered a setback. Moore was drafted as a WR4/5 in most leagues, so owners shouldn't have necessarily been counting on him as a fantasy starter in Week 1. With a tough matchup and an injury, he should probably be on benches barring a full return to Tuesday's practice.

Lance Moore (groin) and Aubrayo Franklin (knee) both returned to Saints practice Wednesday and should be all systems go for Week 1. Moore's injury evoked a scare when he was initially ruled out for the Saints' final two preseason games, but starters don't play in the exhibition finale, anyway. And make no mistake -- Moore will approach starter's snaps this season. An early-down run plugger, Franklin will likely open the year as New Orleans' No. 3 interior tackle, behind Sedrick Ellis and Shaun Rogers.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune's Mike Triplett confirms that Lance Moore's groin injury did not require surgery. Moore was inactive for Sunday night's game and will almost certainly miss the preseason finale. Larry Holder of CBS Sports credits coach Sean Payton as saying Moore "should be back next week." Barring a setback, it leads us to believe he will play in the NFL opener against the Packers. Moore remains a top-35 receiver in the Rotoworld Draft Guide.

Lance Moore will miss Sunday's game and possibly the exhibition finale with a groin injury. Moore had been enjoying a "huge" training camp, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. One of our favorite value picks this year, Moore had also played 85 percent of the Saints' first-team snaps through two games after playing 51 percent last year. We should have an update on his status by this weekend.

Lance Moore is off to a "sizzling start" at Saints camp. With Marques Colston (knee) sidelined for six straight practices, Moore is reasserting himself as Drew Brees' top target. According to the Times-Picayune, "Moore appears poised for perhaps the best season of his career." It's worth noting that the Saints gave him a legit five-year, $20 million contract in late July, which is more money than we would've expected. We're conservatively projecting the slot receiver for 63 catches this season, a number that will rise if Colston's knee woes continue.
