Golladay signed a four-year, $72 million deal, including $40 million in guarantees, with the Giants on Saturday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
The top remaining free-agent wide receiver signed the massive deal after a multi-day visit with the Giants. Prior to last season, Golladay had been model of consistency, recording back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons after earning a starting role within the Lions offense entering 2018. A debilitating hip injury forced the 27-year-old to miss the final eight games of the 2020 campaign, but he was still a driving force when healthy, tallying at least four receptions in all four games he played, two of which went over the 100-yard receiving mark. Situated in a Giants offense gushing with explosive options such as Saquon Barkley, Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard, Golladay immediately becomes the team's best red-zone threat and should be a capable intermediate target for quarterback Daniel Jones in what amounts to a pivotal prove-it season for the third-year quarterback.

Golladay is drawing interest from both the Bears and Giants, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Per the report, the coveted free agent was in contact with Bears GM Ryan Pace and coach Matt Nagy on Wednesday and is slated to meet with the Giants on Thursday. Golladay is one of several top-level wide receiver options still unsigned after this week's initial burst of league-wide movement. It remains to be seen if he has any other visits lined up, but for now Golladay -- who's bouncing back from a hip injury -- appears to be taking a deliberate approach with regard to choosing his next NFL destination.

Golladay is expected to visit with the Giants this week to discuss a contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
According to Jordan Schultz of ESPN, the Giants view Golladay a true No. 1 wideout, but the team would still like to check in with the 27-year-old before extending him what's expected to a lucrative multi-year deal. New York presumably wants to get a feeling for where Golladay stands on the health front after he missed 11 games last season to a hip injury. Schultz notes that several other teams are still pursuing Golladay in free agency, so there's no guarantee his visit with the Giants results in a signing. The visit is, however, a clear confirmation that both sides share mutual interest.

The Lions won't use their franchise tag on Golladay, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Golladay will thus be eligible to become a free agent, along with fellow wide receivers Marvin Jones, Danny Amendola and Mohamed Sanu. It's still possible that Detroit could re-sign Golladay, but at the moment, newcomer Tyrell Williams is the top wideout that the team has under contract for 2021.

While the Lions could use the franchise tag ahead of the March 9 deadline to prevent Golladay (hip) from reaching unrestricted free agency, general manager Brad Holmes said Tuesday that there are "some decisions that still have to be made" about Golladay's future, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
With none of Golladay, Marvin Jones or Danny Amendola under contract in 2021, Holmes said Tuesday that he hopes to remake the Lions' receiving corps in a similar fashion to how the Rams re-made theirs in 2017 and 2018, when Los Angeles utilized free agency, the trade market and the middle rounds of the draft to give then-Rams quarterback Jared Goff a full arsenal of receivers. Considering those moves included the 2017 free-agent signing of Robert Woods and the 2018 trade acquisition of Brandin Cooks, it doesn't necessarily seem as if Holmes -- who served the Rams as the director of college scouting at the time -- will be shy about locking up quality receivers this time around, should he take that same approach. However, the Lions less-than-ideal cap situation (especially after acquiring Goff) might make it a challenge to keep Golladay in Detroit, as the franchise tag is projected to be around $16 million for receivers and the Lions were still a few million dollars over the expected salary cap before signing deep-threat Tyrell Williams (shoulder) this week.

Lions interim head coach Darrell Bevell ruled Golladay (hip) out for Sunday's game against the Vikings, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The announcement comes as no surprise, given that the Lions are eliminated from playoff contention along with the fact that Golladay hasn't practiced in any capacity since Week 12. Golladay thus concludes the 2020 season with 20 receptions on 32 targets for 338 yards and two touchdowns across his eight appearances, but the disappointing, injury-plagued campaign shouldn't prevent him from earning a hefty pay raise this offseason. Though Detroit may be reluctant to give the wideout the long-term contract extension he's seeking, he would be a strong candidate to receive the Lions' franchise tag, which would net him a one-year deal worth no less than the average of the top five highest-salaried players at his position.

Golladay (hip) won't participate in Thursday's practice, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Golladay hasn't played since Week 8 and hasn't practiced in any capacity since Week 12, making it a longshot for him to gain clearance for Sunday's season finale versus the Vikings. Unless Golladay makes a surprise appearance on the practice field Friday, he'll likely be ruled out for the game when the Lions release their final Week 17 injury report.

Golladay (hip) won't practice Wednesday, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though Golladay hasn't played since Week 8, the Lions have thus far elected not to place the wideout on injured reserve. Golladay's continued absence from practice, however, doesn't bode well for his chances of returning to game action in Sunday's season finale versus the Vikings.

Golladay (hip) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Buccaneers, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
After yet another week with no practice reps, the Lions did the expected and will make Golladay inactive this weekend, marking his eighth straight contest on the sideline. He'll have one more chance to get back on the field this season on Sunday, Jan. 3 against the Vikings.

Golladay (hip) was held out of practice Wednesday, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tuesday's practice report was an estimate, so Golladay's lack of activity Wednesday is more indicative of his current level of health. That is, he doesn't seem to have made any recognizable progress through the hip injury that has kept him off the practice field since Week 12. The Lions haven't hinted yet that Golladay may be shut down for the final two contests, but with no playoff berth to play for, it could be just a matter of time.
