The Steelers added Fields to the injury report with a hamstring issue and are listing him as questionable for Monday's game against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
With Fields' Week 8 status now in question, the Steelers may have to turn to Kyle Allen to serve as Russell Wilson's backup Monday. According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, the Steelers had planned to have some packages available for Fields, but after Fields tweaked his hamstring in practice, that plan will likely be scrapped even if he's ultimately active as Wilson's backup Monday.

Fields didn't get any snaps during Sunday's 37-15 win over the Jets.
EDGE Analysis
Russell Wilson took over as the Steelers' starting quarterback for the Week 7 matchup, but reports earlier in the week suggested that Pittsburgh would have a package of plays available for Fields. However, coach Mike Tomlin decided to ride the hot hand with Wilson as the offense put up 31 unanswered points en route to a comfortable victory. Given the success that the team had in prime time, it seems unlikely that Wilson is in danger of handing back the starting job, but it's still possible that Fields sees some game action in specific situations, likely in the red zone where his greater mobility might give defenses an extra threat to consider.

Fields isn't expected to start Sunday's game against the Jets, but the Steelers are expected to have a "package of plays" available for him as the backup to Russell Wilson, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Head coach Mike Tomlin hasn't officially named a starting quarterback for Week 7, but Rapoport relays that Wilson will get the nod Sunday for what will be his Steelers debut. Wilson was named the starter coming out of the preseason but missed the Steelers' first five games of the season with a calf injury, then served as Fields' backup Week 6. However, Wilson took first-team reps and led the quarterback rotation in individual drills for each practice this week, setting the stage for him to play Sunday while Fields heads to the bench. However, after guiding Pittsburgh to a 4-2 record while completing 66.3 percent of his passes for 6.9 yards per attempt and accounting for 10 touchdowns over his six starts, Fields doesn't look like he'll disappear from the game plan entirely. The extent of his role Sunday isn't fully known, but look for any Fields packages that the Steelers use to take advantage of the signal-caller's rushing ability.

Coach Mike Tomlin revealed Friday that he's made a decision on the Steelers' starting quarterback between Fields and Russell Wilson for Sunday's game versus the Jets but won't announce who is getting the call, Brook Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shortly after Tomlin's media session, WR George Pickens may have let slip that Wilson will be under center Sunday, noting he and the QB have been "getting on the same page after practice, throwing more than usual because this is his first start." All signs point to that coming to pass, as Wilson handled first-team reps this week and led the team's signal-callers in individual drills, while Fields was second in the rotation. Fields started the first six contests of the campaign while Wilson recovered from a lingering calf injury, but the latter now seems set up for his first nod as a member of the Steelers. During his stint as the starter, Fields had a 4-2 record, completed 66 percent of his passes for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns and one interception and recorded 55 carries for 231 yards and five more TDs.

Fields is expected to move into a backup role for Sunday's game against the Jets with Russell Wilson on track to receive first-team reps in practice Wednesday through Friday and then start this weekend, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Just minutes after Pelissero published his report, head coach Mike Tomlin met with the media for his weekly press conference and said that Wilson was merely "in consideration" for the Week 7 start, per Dale Lolley of the Steelers' official site. Tomlin added that both quarterbacks will get reps in practice this week before a decision is made on a starter, and he even floated the possibility of both Wilson and Fields seeing snaps against the Jets, according to Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com. Assuming Pelissero's report comes to pass, though, fantasy managers who had been relying on Fields should prepare to use another option. Wilson won the starting job coming out of the preseason, but after he aggravated a calf injury in a practice leading up to the Week 1 game, Fields stepped in as starter for each of the first six contests. Fields led Pittsburgh to a 4-2 record while completing 66.3 percent of his passes for 6.9 yards per attempt and a 5:1 TD:INT to go with 231 yards and five scores on the ground, but now that Wilson has returned to full health after a week of full practices, he looks poised to reclaim the starting role. Given how well Fields performed over the first six games, however, Wilson could need a strong performance against the Jets to ensure he sticks atop the depth chart moving forward.

Fields completed 14 of 24 passes for 145 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions in Sunday's 32-13 win over the Raiders. He added 11 rushes for 59 yards and two scores.
EDGE Analysis
Fields had another ugly day through the air, as he averaged 6.0 yards per attempt or fewer for the third time in six games and for the second consecutive matchup. He did manage two completions of at least 20 yards, with his longest completion going to George Pickens for 31 yards late in the fourth quarter. While he was plagued by a couple of drops from Pickens during the contest, Fields also had an interception wiped off the board by a roughing the passer call just before halftime. Regardless of the assessment of his work as a passer, Fields got things done from a fantasy perspective thanks to his work on the ground -- highlighted by scores of three and seven yards. There will likely be ongoing speculation about Fields' status as the starter in Pittsburgh now that Russell Wilson is healthy, though it's difficult to imagine the Steelers making a change while having a 4-2 record and being tied for first in the AFC North.

Fields is slated to be backed up by Russell Wilson on Sunday against the Raiders, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Wilson active for the first time this season, in this case as the team's No. 2 signal-caller, Kyle Allen will serve as Pittsburgh's emergency quarterback Sunday. Thus far this season, Fields has led the team to a 3-2 record, but it remains to be seen how strong his grip on the starting job is now that Wilson has moved past his calf injury.

Fields is in line to start Sunday's game against the Raiders, while coach Mike Tomlin said Friday that Russell Wilson is expected to be active in a backup role, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fields is slated to make a sixth straight start to begin the season, but after Wilson was inactive for the first five games due to a calf injury, the veteran quarterback is expected to be available following a full week of practice. With Pittsburgh having dropped consecutive games after a 3-0 start, Fields could be in danger of losing the starting job to Wilson soon if the former Bears quarterback is unable to right the ship.

Head coach Mike Tomlin said that Fields will begin Week 6 prep Wednesday as the Steelers' first-team quarterback, while Russell Wilson (calf) works with the second team in his first full practice since Week 1, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After being named the Steelers' starter coming out of the preseason, Wilson aggravated a calf injury during Week 1 prep that has kept him from playing all season. Fields has stepped in as the Steelers' signal-caller for the first five games, guiding the team to a 3-2 record while completing 67.6 percent of his passes for 7.1 yards per attempt and a 5:1 TD:INT to go with 172 yards and three scores on the ground. Though Fields has generally performed well, Tomlin stopped short of declaring that Fields will retain the starting role for Sunday's game in Las Vegas, especially with the 25-year-old coming off his least efficient outing of the season in the Week 5 loss to Dallas. Tomlin indicated that the Steelers will wait and see how Wilson comes out of his first full practice in more than a month before potentially mixing him in with the first team Thursday and/or Friday. The Steelers will presumably lock in a Week 6 starter following Friday's practice, though Tomlin may not disclose to the media whether it will be Fields or Wilson that ultimately gets the nod Sunday.

Fields completed 15 of 27 passes for 131 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Cowboys. He added six rushing attempts for 27 yards.
EDGE Analysis
Fields had more rushing attempts (five) than completed passes (four) in the first half, but the Steelers were down only 6-3 at halftime. He went to the blue medical tent with the independent neurologist after taking a big hit on the first possession of the second half, per Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com, but Fields returned two plays later and eventually capped the drive with a go-ahead 16-yard touchdown pass to Connor Heyward. Pittsburgh's offense went quiet again for two drives after that before waking up for a 12-play, 63-yard touchdown drive that culminated in a six-yard Fields touchdown pass to Pat Freiermuth with 4:56 remaining. Fields did enough to put the Steelers in position to improve to 4-1, but the Cowboys scored the game-winning touchdown with 20 seconds remaining. Russell Wilson (calf) still wasn't healthy enough to make his season debut against Dallas, but even if the veteran quarterback gains clearance to suit up against the Raiders in Week 6, he's unlikely to take the starting job despite Fields' slow start in the Week 5 loss.
