Fields, who is ruled out for the Bears' Thanksgiving Day matchup with the Lions, was diagnosed with a few cracked ribs after he recently underwent an MRI, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fields exited last Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Ravens early in the third quarter after taking a shot to the ribs, but he was initially believed to be dealing with only painful bruising in that area after an X-ray and CT scans came back clean. The injury was still enough to keep Fields off the practice field the last couple of days and unavailable to play on a short week, but his outlook heading into a Week 13 matchup with the Cardinals on Dec. 5 looks to be murky at the moment. While the MRI didn't detect anything concerning beyond the tiny fractures in Fields' ribs, the Bears could still err on the side of caution with the prized young signal-caller if he's still feeling a good amount of discomfort next week. Andy Dalton will get the starting nod in Fields' stead Thanksgiving Day, while No. 3 quarterback Nick Foles moves into the top backup role this week.

Fields (ribs) has been ruled out for Thursday's game at Detroit.
EDGE Analysis
The situation for Fields seemed to be trending this way after he was a non-participant at walkthroughs Monday and Tuesday and after coach Matt Nagy officially named Andy Dalton the Bears' Week 12 starting quarterback Tuesday. With another absence Wednesday, Fields now won't be available Thursday due to the bruised ribs he picked up this past Sunday against the Ravens, making his next possible appearance Sunday, Dec. 5 against the Cardinals. Behind Dalton, Chicago will have Nick Foles available as his backup this week.

Fields (ribs) was estimated as a non-participant Tuesday during the Bears' walk-through practice.
EDGE Analysis
Head coach Matt Nagy already confirmed earlier Tuesday that Andy Dalton would get the start under center for the Thanksgiving Day game against the Lions, though Fields has yet to be officially ruled out from suiting up for the contest in a reserve role. However, given that Nick Foles is already on the roster as a healthy backup option behind Dalton, the Bears will more than likely keep Fields inactive Week 12, giving him some extra time to rest his sore ribs. According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, Nagy said he's hopeful Fields' absence will be limited to just one game, so the rookie signal-caller tentatively looks in line to play Week 13 against the Cardinals.

Bears head coach Matt Nagy said Fields (ribs) isn't expected to be active for Thursday's game against the Lions, but the rookie will remains the team's starting quarterback when healthy, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fields was knocked out of the Bears' Week 11 loss to the Ravens due to bruised ribs and doesn't look like he'll be ready to go for Thanksgiving Day, but the Bears are hopeful his absence will be contained to just one game. After completing 11 of 23 attempts for 201 yards and a pair of touchdowns in relief of an injured Fields against Baltimore, Andy Dalton will get the starting nod Week 12, while No. 3 quarterback Nick Foles will presumably step in as his backup. Barring a dramatic turnaround in Fields' health following Wednesday's practice, expect the Bears to officially rule him out for the matchup with Detroit.

Fields (ribs) isn't expected to start Thursday's game at Detroit, yielding the offense to Andy Dalton, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fields was knocked out of this past Sunday's contest against the Ravens due to a rib injury and was unable to return. Afterward, he paid a visit to the hospital to have his ribs and spleen examined. While he primarily appears to be dealing with bruised ribs, Fields won't have enough time to gain clearance to play on a short week of prep. As evidence, he didn't participate in Monday's walkthrough, and it remains to be seen if he'll be active at all Thursday. Stepping in for Fields will be Dalton, who completed 11 of 23 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns in less than a half of work Sunday.

Fields (ribs) was estimated as a non-participant during Monday's walkthrough practice.
EDGE Analysis
Unsurprisingly, the Bears didn't project Fields for any practice reps one day after he injured his ribs in the team's 16-13 loss to the Ravens. Though a firm diagnosis for Fields' injury hasn't been formally announced, the Bears are hopeful that the rookie is dealing with bruising to his ribs rather than any fracture. Even if that's the case, Fields still could be challenged to gain clearance for the Bears' Thanksgiving Day game against the Lions, in which case Andy Dalton would be lined up for the start.

Fields is believed to have bruised ribs, though he still has additional tests coming to evaluate him for more serious injuries, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bruised ribs would be a best-case scenario following the QB's early exit from a loss to Baltimore on Sunday. Even then, Fields would be in danger of missing time, especially with the Bears on a short week ahead of their Thanksgiving Day game in Detroit. If the rookie isn't ready, Andy Dalton will make his first start since Week 2.

Fields didn't return to Sunday's game against the Ravens after exiting with a rib injury, and Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that Fields went to the hospital after the game to have his ribs and spleen checked.
EDGE Analysis
If Fields sustained an injury to his spleen, it would likely require a multi-week absence, and the same would go for cracked ribs. The team will likely have an update on his status in the coming days, though Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Fields appears to have avoided any broken ribs. Andy Dalton came in after Fields got hurt, and Dalton will start under center for the Bears in four days on Thanksgiving against the Lions if Fields isn't ready to return by then.

Fields exited Sunday's game against the Ravens with a rib injury, Adam Hoge of NBC Sports Chicago reports.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie headed to the locker room to be evaluated early in the third quarter, leaving Andy Dalton to take over at quarterback for Chicago. Fields completed four of 11 passes for 79 yards with four carries for 23 yards prior to leaving the game.

Fields completed 17 of 29 passes for 291 yards, one touchdown and one interception In Monday night's 29-27 loss to the Steelers. He also rushed eight times for 45 yards.
EDGE Analysis
Fields was only effective using his legs and finding tight end Cole Kmet in the first half, but he was excellent while nearly engineering a comeback victory in the second. Besides a 50-yard bomb to begin the third quarter, Fields found top wideout Allen Robinson for a 39-yard gain on a third-and-two play with two minutes remaining. He then connected with Darnell Mooney for a 15-yard touchdown on the very next play to put the Bears ahead. Although Fields' late-game heroics were spoiled by Chicago subsequently allowing a field goal, the quarterback at least showed great flashes as he now enters the bye week.
