McCown completed six of eight passes for 57 yards in Thursday's preseason finale against the Eagles.
EDGE Analysis
The Jets let McCown play a couple drives, after using the previous two preseason games to evaluate Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty (knee). Already named as the Week 1 starter, McCown will lead an undermanned Jets offense into Buffalo for the regular-season opener. The Jets presumably will want to take a longer look at Hackenberg and/or Petty before the season ends.

McCown is expected to start Thursday's preseason contest against the Eagles, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Just days removed from being named the Jets' Week 1 starting quarterback, McCown will make his preseason debut Thursday, more or less as a walkthrough in advance of the regular campaign. While Matt Forte won't take the field, McCown may have the rest of the top skill-position players at his disposal, which could reveal who starts opposite No. 1 wideout Robby Anderson, for example.

McCown will open the regular season as the Jets' starting quarterback.
EDGE Analysis
Per coach Todd Bowles, McCown gives the Jets "the best chance to win right now." While the veteran signal-caller's Week 1 assignment has been settled on, the team's backup pecking order has yet to be solidified. Since entering the league in 2002, McCown has never appeared in all 16 games, so it remains to be seen how long the 38-year-old's latest starting gig lasts. With Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker no longer on the team, and Quincy Enunwa out for the season, McCown is slated to work with an unproven wideout corps, now headed by Robby Anderson. Given that context, we'd expect the Jets to lean toward a ground game featuring the duo of Bilal Powell and Matt Forte.

McCown is expected to be named the Jets' starting quarterback when coach Todd Bowles makes his announcement next Monday, ESPN's Rich Cimini reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCown is the heavy favorite to win New York's starting gig, as neither Christian Hackenberg nor Bryce Petty has made a strong claim for the job. After sitting out the Jets' most recent preseason game, McCown is anticipated to feature prominently in this Saturday's meeting with the Giants. After that contest, Bowles is expected to declare a starter next Monday. Although McCown is poised to cement his status, the fact that the 38-year-old has played more than eight games just once over the past four seasons suggests Hackenberg and/or Petty could get a shot to start before this season is over.

McCown moved one step closer to the starting job as a result of Christian Hackenberg's unimpressive performance in Saturday's preseason game against the Lions, Manish Mehta of the NY Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hackenberg got the start and completed two of six passes for 14 yards while playing the entire first half. The Jets picked up only two first downs on his five drives and lost more yards on sacks (two for 17) than they gained through the air. Bryce Petty then played the entire second half and at least appeared competent, but he's mostly worked with the third unit during training camp, which suggests he isn't really in the mix for the starting job. McCown was held out of Saturday's game to give the Jets a better chance to evaluate their two young quarterbacks.

McCown completed 3-of-4 passes for 72 yards and a touchdown in his lone drive of action during Saturday's preseason opener against the Titans.
EDGE Analysis
McCown showed why he's been earning the first-team reps in camp, guiding the offense to seven points thanks to a 53-yard deep ball to Robby Anderson and a four-yard touchdown to Charone Peake. He then gave way to Christian Hackenberg, who looked good but failed to add any more points on the scoreboard. Even with the lack of premier targets in New York, McCown could be sneaky good if he can hold onto the starting job and maintains this level in the regular season.

McCown has been getting the most first-team reps among the Jets' three quarterbacks, NJ.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCown continues to be the favorite to win the starting job ahead of Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty, though it appears Hackenberg will get plenty of opportunities to supplant him. With that said, McCown is likely only an option in deeper fantasy formats, as the Jets' offense isn't expected to do much as a whole this year.

McCown is still the favorite to start at quarterback this season, but his underwhelming showing during minicamp didn't help widen the gap on Christian Hackenberg, ESPN's Rich Cimini reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCown, who signed a one-year deal with New York after appearing in five games for the Browns last season, is being pegged as the Jets' defacto starter given their lack of quality options behind him. However, after the 37-year-old wasn't as crisp as anticipated during minicamp, when Hackenberg actually overachieved, his grip on the starting gig could be loosening. In the end, though, McCown's play during training camp and the preseason will ultimately determine whether he wins the job, leaving much to be monitored going forward.

McCown will compete with Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg during training camp for the starting quarterback job, ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCown signed a one-year contract with the Jets back in March, and while it has always been expected that he will be the opening day starter, head coach Todd Bowles made it clear Wednesday that it will be an open competition. Given the struggles of Petty last season and the team's lack of trust to even give Hackenberg a shot, McCown certainly has to be viewed as the front runner.

Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan deferred to head coach Todd Bowles when asked if McCown will enter training camp as the starter, ESPN's Rich Cimini reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCown signed a one-year contract Monday, joining 2015 fourth-rounder Bryce Petty (shoulder) and 2016 second-rounder Christian Hackenberg in the Jets' quarterback room. The 37-year-old likely will enter training camp as the favorite for the starting gig, but there should at least be some form of competition to give the younger signal-callers a shot to win the job on a rebuilding team. Given his age, injury history and the nature of his team's current roster, McCown is unlikely to make it through the season as the starter even if he wins the Week 1 job.
