Huff, who did not play in last Saturday's loss to the Browns, is fighting to secure a roster spot in Thursday's exhibition finale versus the Redskins.

Bernard Reedy turned in another solid effort (one reception for 25 yards, three punt returns for 16 yards) while Huff sat, presumably putting the latter at a disadvantage in the competition for a receiver and returner role heading into Thursday's contest. While Huff was serviceable on kickoffs over the first two exhibitions (two returns for 64 yards), Reedy has outperformed him as a receiver. Additionally, Donteea Dye, who logged two receptions for 18 yards in his preseason debut against Cleveland, is also in the conversation and expected to see plenty of playing time against Washington.

Huff gathered in his only target for six yards and totaled 27 yards on his sole kickoff return in Thursday's 12-8 preseason win over the Jaguars.

EDGE Analysis

The 25-year-old was outperformed by his primary competitor for the fifth receiver/returner roles, Bernard Reedy, and also played three fewer snaps than the latter. However, Huff almost matched Reedy's 29 yards on kickoffs and is the only one of the two with any regular-season playing experience. Huff also has a two-inch height advantage and bigger overall frame than Reedy, so there are undeniably certain advantages he brings to the table in the job battle. The two will likely continue in competition through the final preseason game.

Huff secured one of three targets for seven yards and added 37 yards on his sole kickoff return in Friday's 23-12 preseason loss to the Bengals.

EDGE Analysis

The speedy three-year man looked good on his one runback but couldn't make much of an impact in the passing game. Huff, Freddie Martino and Bernard Reedy -- the latter two having prior experience with head coach Dirk Koetter in Atlanta -- are in a battle for the fifth receiver and kick returner jobs. Reedy was the most accomplished of that trio Friday, but Huff's big-play upside figure to continue affording him plenty of reps in practice and preseason contests.

Huff (ribs) returned to practice Saturday and scored a touchdown against 2017 second-round pick Justin Evans in one-on-one drills, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Huff had gotten the wind knocked out of him Friday on a long diving reception, but he was no worse for wear Saturday. The speedster beat Evans on a quick out move near the goal line in individual drills to haul in a score from Jameis Winston. Huff is battling several players for the fifth receiver role and has also gotten reps at kickoff returner thus far in training camp.
