James is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Bears after suffering a left shoulder injury during the first half, Dale Lolley of the Observer-Reporter reports.
EDGE Analysis
James' status for the remainder of Sunday's tilt is up in the air at this point, while Vance McDonald and Xavier Grimble now have an opportunity to see additional snaps. Another update regarding James' outlook should become available upon the release of additional information.

After practicing fully Friday, James (ankle) no longer appears on the Steelers' Week 3 injury report.
EDGE Analysis
Through two games, James has logged 10 catches (on 13 targets) for 68 yards, to go along with two Week 1 touchdowns. It remains to be seen if James starts losing looks to fellow TE Vance McDonald, but in Week 2 James was on the field for 96% of the Steelers' snaps on offense.

James (ankle) returned to a limited practice Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
James is trending in the right direction as Sunday's game against the Bears approaches, but we'll have to see if he draws an official questionable designation for the contest come Friday, or is simply removed from the Steelers' Week 3 injury report.

James (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
James hurt his ankle during Sunday's 26-9 win over the Vikings, but that didn't stop him from playing 96 percent of the offensive snaps. Fellow tight end Vance McDonald, who missed the first two games with a back injury, wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report. He'll likely take over as the starter if James isn't ready for Sunday's game in Chicago.

James (ankle) has been limited to start this week of practice, Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
There aren't many concerns from the Steelers regarding James' ankle injury, as he was able to play through it in Week 2's win over the Vikings. The team will likely be cautious with James throughout this week of practice in order to ensure he is healthy for Week 3, especially with Vance McDonald (back) still banged up.

James injured his ankle in Sunday's 26-9 win over Minnesota, but he plans to play against the Bears in Week 3, ESPN.com's Jeremy Fowler reports.
EDGE Analysis
James played through the injury in Week 2, catching four of five targets for 27 yards while playing 96 percent of the offensive snaps. Though likely to land on the injury report, he apparently isn't too worried about his availability for Sunday. With Vance McDonald (back) also banged up, the Steelers might be down to Xavier Grimble at tight end if James unexpectedly misses time.

James (ankle) totaled 27 yards on four receptions in Sunday's win over the Vikings.
EDGE Analysis
The third-year tight end followed what was arguably the best game of his short career last week with a disappointing performance, although he made the most of his limited opportunities. James caught 4-of-5 targets despite having a noticeable limp after Pittsburgh's first offensive series. Check on his status in practice next week before inserting him in your Week 3 lineup against Chicago.

James, who logged 54-of-60 offensive snaps in Week 1, is slated to serve as the primary tight end Week 2 against Minnesota, as Vance McDonald (back) is listed as inactive.
EDGE Analysis
James was one of Week 1's top fantasy tight ends, as he hauled in 6-of-8 targets for 41 yards and two scores -- the second of which was a screen play designed for him in the red zone. He was able to log a big performance despite the presence of McDonald, who was also on the field for 18 offensive snaps in the opener. With McDonald now on the shelf, the only other tight end on the active roster is Xavier Grimble, who saw just one offensive snap in Week 1. Repeating last week's production might be a tough ask for James, though he'll certainly have the opportunity to do so. He draws a tough Minnesota defense, though they did give up 54 yards and a touchdown to Saints tight end Coby Fleener in their opener.

James nabbed six of eight passes for 41 yards and two scores in Sunday's win over the Browns.
EDGE Analysis
James helped Pittsburgh retake the lead in the second quarter on a four-yard touchdown in the back of the end zone and then followed up with another score in the third quarter on a two-yard dump off. In the process, James increased his career touchdown total by 50 percent. The Vance McDonald acquisition looked like it might hurt James, and time is still needed for McDonald to acclimate to a new offense, but James' eight targets to McDonald's one on Sunday is a promising start.

James faces added competition following the Steelers' acquisition of fellow tight end Vance McDonald, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
While James is the Steelers' incumbent starter at the tight end position, coach Mike Tomlin suggested that the move to acquire McDonald was spurred by concerns with the lack of consistency displayed by the team's tight ends. It remains to be seen if McDonald immediately or eventually supplants James, but either way, the potential for a time-share here reduces the short-term upside of both players.
