Free agent Jeff Garcia reached out to the Browns to express interest in returning as a quarterback. The fact that this is even a "story" tells you how pathetic the Browns' quarterback situation is. Garcia is 43 years old, hasn't been in the NFL since 2011 and hasn't started a game since 2008. The Browns are currently deciding whether to start Brandon Weeden or Jason Campbell in Week 8. Weeden is tentatively expected to get one more chance despite an incredibly inaccurate 17-of-42 for 149 yard performance against the Packers on Sunday.

Free agent Jeff Garcia hopes to play in 2012. Specifically, for the Eagles, for whom Garcia joked he would pay to play for in a Friday radio interview. Although Garcia spent the final month of 2011 on Houston's roster, he turned 42 in February, and hasn't attempted a pass since 2008. Garcia should remain unsigned.

Texans declared QB Jeff Garcia, FS Troy Nolan, WR Jeff Maehl, TE Garrett Graham, OT Andrew Gardner, G Thomas Austin and CB Brandon Harris inactive for the Divisional Round against the Ravens. Garcia has now been inactive for both of the Texans' playoff games, suggesting Houston has the utmost faith in rookie signal caller T.J. Yates. TE Owen Daniels was listed as probable on the injury report after being limited all week in practice by hand and knee injuries, but was never in danger of missing today's game.

The Texans intend to sign either Jeff Garcia or Jake Delhomme Tuesday, a source tells ESPN.com. The two veteran free agents are working out for the Texans today. Garcia also worked out in Houston last week, but the team chose to sign Kellen Clemens instead. Regardless, rookie T.J. Yates will get the first crack at running with the job when he starts against the Falcons on Sunday. Kellen Clemens will be his backup.

The Texans are working out free agent QBs Jeff Garcia and Jake Delhomme on Tuesday. Right now they are clearly vying for the backup job behind rookie T.J. Yates, but if either of them can still play they make for somewhat compelling options. The Texans have a playoff-caliber team and need a game manager, and not a rookie learning on the job. Neither veteran signal-caller should be viewed as a savior to the Texans' overall woes with Matt Schaub on I.R.

The Texans are working out free agent QBs Jeff Garcia, Trent Edwards, Brodie Croyle, and Kellen Clemens on Monday. One may be signed this week to "compete" in practice for the Texans' backup job with T.J. Yates behind Matt Leinart. Ultimately, the Texans seem unlikely to sign a veteran until Matt Schaub (Lisfranc injury) is placed on season-ending injured reserve. Schaub is visiting foot specialist Robert Anderson on Wednesday.
