Ravens NT Haloti Ngata is a candidate to open training camp on the PUP list.
Ngata was a non-participant in OTAs and minicamp and is still recovering from his Super Bowl knee injury. He resumed a running program last month but shouldn't be sidelined for long, if at all, during training camp.

Ravens NT Haloti Ngata is "still recovering" from his Super Bowl knee injury.
He's expected to be limited in this week's minicamp. Ngata reportedly suffered "just" a left MCL sprain, but he's been doing little in OTAs. It's not a concern for Week 1, but Ngata could be eased into training camp. The Ravens want Ngata to be more diligent about his weight after he reported "heavier than normal" last summer.

Haloti Ngata stated on NFL Network's Total Access that he "definitely" plans to play more nose tackle in 2013.
Different from past years, the Ravens can now field a deep rotation of ends with free-agent pickups Chris Canty and Marcus Spears rotating with Arthur Jones and Pernell McPhee. "It's gonna keep me inside, just having those guys there," Ngata said. "It's gonna be great to have me be comfortable on the inside of the defense, where I love playing." With improved depth at five technique, Ngata as a full-time nose, and Elvis Dumervil bookending Terrell Suggs at rush linebacker, Baltimore's front seven will be significantly better than it was in 2012.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh indicated that Haloti Ngata will play more true nose tackle moving forward.
"The fact that we've added two guys that can play defensive end definitely marks the possibility he could play inside more," said Harbaugh. "Our bellcow in there is Haloti." Ngata has generally played 3-4 end in Baltimore, with Kelly Gregg, Terrence Cody, and most recently Ma'ake Kemoeatu on the nose. The Ravens can now surround him with a rotation of Chris Canty, Arthur Jones, Pernell McPhee, and Marcus Spears, freeing up 6-foot-4, 330-poound Ngata to wreak havoc on the NFL's significantly more undersized centers.

The Ravens want to "address a weight issue" with DT Haloti Ngata.
Ngata reported to minicamp last offseason "heavier than normal," but nothing much was made of it. Now that he's approaching 30 years old, the Ravens are going to keep an eye on Ngata. We wouldn't expect it to be much of an issue, though.

Ravens DT Haloti Ngata's MRI revealed only damage to his left MCL.
It just confirmed Ngata's MCL sprain, an injury through which he played for most of the season. No surgery is necessary, and NFL Network's Albert Breer reports Ngata will be "fine." Still only 29 years old, Ngata finished the 2012 season with 51 tackles and five sacks. He should have several strong years left.

Coach John Harbaugh said the left knee injury Haloti Ngata sustained in the Super Bowl is nothing serious.
Ngata has avoided a ligament tear. In fact, Harbaugh says that the his dominant run-stuffing defensive tackle will be ready for the entire offseason program. When the MRI results are announced, expect a mere aggravation of Ngata's sprained MCL to be revealed.

The Baltimore Sun believes the Ravens may have "dodged a bullet" with DT Haloti Ngata (knee).
Ngata won't undergo an MRI until Tuesday, but is not on crutches, and is "moving alright." Nothing can be ruled out until Ngata receives his MRI results, but the early indications are that he's avoided a major ligament tear.

Ravens DT Haloti Ngata says his left knee is "feeling better" on Monday morning.
Ngata was seen walking through the team hotel on Monday morning without the aid of crutches or assistance of any kind, so it's an encouraging sign. But we really won't know the extent of the injury until the Ravens get back to Baltimore and Ngata undergoes further testing. The injury was initially classified as a "sprain."
