Brees (oblique) -- who hasn't practiced since Aug. 1 -- wasn't sporting pads during Sunday's session, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. While Brees didn't play in the Saints' preseason opener on Friday, he did warm up prior to kickoff by throwing passes to safety Jairus Byrd. Consider the Saints' star QB day-to-day for now.

The Saints have not made a decision on Brees' (oblique) status for the team's preseason opener on Friday, reports the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Brees' injury has been described as a strained left oblique, and it has kept him out of practices since last Friday. Brees, however, did throw some light passes on the sidelines and looked nimble in doing post-practice running on Wednesday. With the regular season nearly a month away still, there's little reason to be concerned about Brees' availability for Week 1 even if he misses the first preseason contest.

Drew Brees told the Associated Press he "hopes" to play into his 40s. "Do I hope I can play into my 40s? Yes, I do," said Brees, who turned 35 in January. "As long as I'm healthy and playing at a high level, why not? I certainly don't take it for granted and know that obviously you've got to prove yourself every year." Brees is signed with the Saints through 2016, his age-37 campaign. He's been a top-two fantasy quarterback in five of the last six seasons.

Drew Brees said he's willing to restructure his contract this offseason. Don't interpret this the wrong way and assume Brees will take a pay cut to help out the organization. He said he'd restructure, a process of moving money around to kick salary cap concerns down the road. It happens constantly throughout every team in the league. Brees, who will turn 35 on Wednesday and is set to count $18.4 million against the 2014 cap, knows his championship window is getting smaller. "Whatever I can do to help this team," he said.

Drew Brees completed 24-of-43 passes for 309 yards and a touchdown in New Orleans' 23-15, Divisional Round loss to the Seahawks. Brees' final stats aren't indicative of the way he played. Brees entered halftime just 5-of-12 for 34 yards. The Seahawks dropped two readymade picks in the fourth quarter. Brees was certainly better after the break, but had trouble with the wind and rain, and couldn't find No. 1 option Jimmy Graham before New Orleans' futile final drive. It was a dismal ending to an otherwise stellar season, one that will fuel the narrative that he's not an elite quarterback outside of the Superdome. Either way, Brees' 5,162 regular-season passing yards were fifth most all time. He'll remain a top-three fantasy option for 2014.

The forecast for Saturday's Saints-Seahawks game at CenturyLink Field is calling for a 70 percent chance of rain throughout and high winds ranging from 28-30 MPH. Temperature won't be a problem -- it's in the 40s all day in Seattle -- but it's going to be rainy and very windy at the "Clink," which favors the hometown Seahawks versus the pass-happy Saints. The wind is expected to involve gusts even stronger than 30 MPH, a concern for passing. Seattle's defense already posed a physical mismatch for New Orleans' offense, and now has an extra advantage.

Drew Brees completed 20-of-30 passes for 250 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions in Sunday's Wild Card win at Philadelphia.
