Brees has been diagnosed with a bruised rotator cuff, Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fortunately for Brees, he avoided a torn rotator cuff, but the famed Dr. James Andres is expected to examine MRI results in order to confirm the extent of the injury. With treatment on tap this week, it's unclear if Brees will be able to practice, but an absence would place Luke McCown under center for the Saints.

An MRI revealed that Brees hasn't sustained a severe shoulder injury, but his ability to suit up Sunday at Carolina is contingent upon his response to treatment this week, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brees' diagnosis appears to improve his recovery timetable, but his practice participation, or lack thereof, will ultimately determine whether he hands off quarterback duties in Week 3. If he takes a seat, Luke McCown is present to direct the Saints' offense.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport relays that the Saints believe Brees is dealing with a shoulder injury that will likely cause the QB to miss some action, "potentially several games."
EDGE Analysis
We'll await confirmation of the report, though if Brees indeed misses time, Luke McCown would presumably start at QB for the Saints, while third-rounder Garrett Grayson would be in line to move up to the No. 2 slot on the team's depth chart.

Brees relayed that his shoulder was affected by a big hit that he took early in Sunday's loss to Buccaneers, while adding that he "absolutely" did not consider leaving the game, ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though the QB indicated after Sunday's game that he isn't too concerned about the issue going forward, it's quite possible that Brees' name will pop up on the Saints' Week 3 injury report.

Brees completed 24 of 38 passes for 255 yards with one touchdown and one interception Sunday against Tampa Bay.
EDGE Analysis
Brees was under constant pressure all game long, as he was sacked four times and fumbled twice, though the Saints recovered both. He connected with nine different receivers, with Marques Colston (four catches for 69 yards) leading the way in yards and Brandin Cooks (five catches for 62 yards) leading in targets and receptions. With fairly significant turnover in the offense this past offseason, particularly with tight end Jimmy Graham being sent to Seattle, it looks like Brees could struggle to be a consistent fantasy option this season, even with a number of weapons around him.

Brees completed 30-of-48 attempts for 355 yards, with a touchdown and interception, in Sunday's 31-19 loss at Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
Brees wasn't particularly sharp, but he still managed to post respectable fantasy numbers against a stingy defense on the road. On somewhat of a negative note, Brees was forced to check down to his running backs, as Mark Ingram and Khiry Robinson combined to catch 13 passes for 149 yards. In any event, Brees should find things much easier at home in Week 2, facing a Tampa Bay defense that allowed four touchdown passes to rookie Marcus Mariota on Sunday.

The Saints acquired two-time Pro Bowl center Max Unger and a first-round draft pick from the Seahawks in exchange for Jimmy Graham and a fourth-round pick, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. There's no denying the loss of Graham will have an effect on Brees, as the All-Pro tight end averaged 89 catches, 11 touchdowns and 1100 yards per season over the last four years. But, it's not all doom and gloom. By adding Unger, the Saints helped to fortify an offensive line that struggled last season. According to NFL.com, the Saints' offensive line allowed 81 quarterbacks hits in 2014 and 75 QB hits in 2013, essentially all of which were on Brees, versus 59 QB hits in 2012 and 51 in 2011. Further, solidifying an aging interior line is of special importance for New Orleans, as Brees stands a mere 6-0. By shoring up the offensive line, it appears the Saints are betting that Brees made Graham, not the other way around.

Brees completed 24-of-38 passes for 281 yards, with one touchdown and three interceptions during Sunday's win over the Buccaneers. Brees connected with nine different receivers, throwing his lone touchdown to Marques Colston. He finishes the season with 4,984 passing yards, ending his streak of throwing for at least 5,000 yards at three. He still managed to throw more than 30 touchdowns for the seventh consecutive season, though his 33 on the year was his lowest mark since 2010. Brees continues to be a fine fantasy option given how much the Saints like to throw the ball, and while it appears that he may have already peaked, with two more seasons left in New Orleans, he's still capable of putting up some solid numbers.

Brees completed 30-of-47 passes for 313 yards, with one touchdown, two interceptions and two fumbles (one recovered) during Sunday's loss to the Falcons, which eliminated the Saints from playoff contention. Brees connected with 10 different receivers, though he missed out on another touchdown after Jimmy Graham fumbled on the goal line. Additionally, his last interception was a killer, as the Saints were driving down six points. Overall, he still threw for over 300 yards for the eighth time this season, and second in a row, though his three turnovers nearly matched his touchdowns (four) over the last two games. Up next is a Week 17 matchup against the Bucs, who he threw for 371 yards and two touchdown (plus three picks) against back in Week 5.

Brees completed 29-of-36 passes for 375 yards and three touchdowns in Monday's 31-15 win over the Bears. Brees spread the ball around to a number of different receivers, with Jimmy Graham, Pierre Thomas, Kenny Stills and Marques Colston each catching exactly five passes. The Saints had a ton of success on screens and other short routes, which allowed Brees to complete 18 of his 20 first-half attempts. It was a fantastic bounce-back in sub-optimal weather conditions for the 14-year veteran, following a surprisingly awful showing against the Panthers in Week 14. Brees has an excellent opportunity to carry the momentum into Week 16, as the Saints get to face a porous Atlanta defense.
