Hodges announced his retirement from football Friday, Pat Damp of CBS Pittsburgh reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hodges served mainly as a backup quarterback for the Steelers during his career, and he failed to carve out a role with the Rams in 2021. The 26-year-old made eight appearances for Pittsburgh in 2019 and completed 100 of 160 passes for 1,063 yards, five touchdowns and eight interceptions while rushing 21 times for 68 yards.

Hodges was waived by the Rams on Monday, Cameron DaSilva of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hodges was cut by the Rams as the team must trim their roster down to 80 players by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday. The former Steelers quarterback now is subject to waivers, which allows him to be claimed by another team. Hodges likely will aim to compete for a backup role on a team that needs depth at the position.

Hodges is expected to split snaps with Bryce Perkins in the Rams' preseason opener against the Chargers, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hodges suited up with the Steelers for eight games in 2019 before spending last season on their practice squad. He subsequently signed a reserve/future contract with the Rams following the season. The Samson product will compete with Perkins during the preseason for the team's backup role under center.

Hodges agreed to a reserve/future contract with the Rams on Sunday, Cameron DaSilva of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hodges spent the 2020 season on the Steelers' practice squad. The Samford product has starting experience from the 2019 season when he played eight games (six starts) with the Steelers and completed 63 percent of passes for 1,063 yards, five TDs and eight interceptions, while adding 68 rushing yards on 21 carries.

EDGE Analysis
The Steelers claimed Joshua Dobbs off waivers Sunday and subsequently let Hodges go, keeping Dobbs, Ben Roethlisberger and Mason Rudolph on the active roster. Hodges played in eight games for the Steelers last season and recorded 1,063 passing yards, five touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Hodges was waived by the Steelers on Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Steelers picking up a familiar face off waivers in Joshua Dobbs on Sunday, they elected to make room on the roster by cutting Hodges. The 24-year-old played eight games as a result of an injury to Ben Roethlisberger and poor play from Mason Rudolph, and he completed 62.5 percent of his passes for 1,063 yards last year. Hodges will now look to secure a backup or third-string role elsewhere around the league.

Hodges completed 9 of 25 pass attempts for 95 yards during Sunday's 28-10 loss to the Ravens.
EDGE Analysis
Even while down a few starters, the Baltimore defense gave Hodges fits as he completed just 36 percent of his passes and averaged an anemic 3.8 yards per attempt. He managed to avoid throwing an interception, but he lost a fumble and missed numerous throws that could have kept drives alive. This lackluster effort caps an eventful rookie season for Hodges, who played in eight games as a result of injuries and poor play from Ben Roethlisberger and Mason Rudolph. Hodges' 5:8 TD:INT indicates he may not be the long-term answer under center, and he will likely be battling for a roster spot come training camp.

Hodges is set to retain the Steelers' starting quarterback job for Sunday's season finale in Baltimore with Mason Rudolph (shoulder) unlikely to be available Week 17, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Already on a short leash after a four-interception showing in the Week 15 loss to Bills, Hodges was benched in the second quarter of the Steelers' 16-10 loss to the Jets over the weekend after tossing two more picks. Rudolph stepped in to complete 14 of 20 attempts for 129 yards and a touchdown before injuring his left shoulder, affording Hodges the opportunity to re-enter the contest. With Rudolph set to miss time and third-stringer Paxton Lynch apparently not viewed as a viable starting option versus the Ravens, Hodges will get another chance to try and redeem himself as Pittsburgh aims to keep its faint playoff hopes alive.

Hodges completed 11 of 17 passes for 84 yards while throwing two interceptions without a touchdown in Sunday's 16-10 loss to the Jets. He also rushed once for no gain.
EDGE Analysis
Hodges got benched for Mason Rudolph in the second quarter after throwing his second interception. Rudolph came in and threw Pittsburgh's only touchdown of the game but exited with a shoulder injury, paving the way for an ineffective Hodges to reenter the game. The team will likely opt to start Rudolph in the must-win Week 17 game against Baltimore if he's healthy, but Hodges would get the call if Rudolph's unable to play. Even with the Ravens likely resting many starters to prepare for the playoffs, it will be best to avoid Hodges, given his 1:6 TD:INT over the past two games.

EDGE Analysis
Hodges gave way to Rudolph in the second quarter of the contest after throwing two interceptions, but he went back in after Rudolph left the contest due to injury.
