Giants released C David Baas. The move saves $1.775 million in cap room, although it leaves a whopping $6.45 million in "dead money" on the Giants' cap. Baas, 32, has broken down physically in recent years, and the G-Men have interest in ex-Packers C Evan Dietrich-Smith. Dietrich-Smith played under new Giants OC Ben McAdoo in Green Bay. Recovering from a knee injury, Baas may resurface on a minimum contract.

Profootballtalk confirms the Giants have approached C David Baas and RG Chris Snee about taking pay cuts. They've long been considered candidates for pay cuts. A league source tells PFT the G-Men are willing to keep both players, just not at their "current wages." Now 32 and coming off an injury-ruined season, Snee must be willing to gut his $11.75 million cap number. Baas is due $4.75 million after appearing in only three games in 2013.

ESPN Giants blogger Dan Graziano considers C David Baas a "strong candidate" for a pay cut or release. Going on 33, Baas has been racked by injury his three years in the Big Apple, and is due $4.75 million in 2014. A team in desperate need of getting younger, there's a strong chance the G-Men move on from Baas.

Giants C David Baas exited Monday night's game against the Vikings with a left knee injury. Baas was forced from the game during the Giants' 15-play opening drive that chewed up 9:36 on the clock. He recently just got over a neck injury and was seen in "significant" pain on the sideline with his knee. Jim Cordle, who played well in Baas' recent absence, will enter the game at center.

Giants C David Baas (probable, neck) has been cleared to return this week. Baas missed three games with a neck issue, but managed to avoid season-ending surgery. He had been struggling in pass protection prior to the injury, but will immediately regain his starting job over fill-in Jim Cordle.

Giants C David Baas (neck) expects to be cleared for Week 7 against the Vikings. Brandon Jacobs owners should probably be rooting against Baas, as New York's offensive line opened running lanes for the first time all year in Thursday night's loss to Chicago. Fill-in C Jim Cordle stood out as an effective blocker. Baas had previously considered undergoing season-ending neck surgery.

The NY Daily News reports C David Baas may need season-ending neck surgery. Per beat writer Ralph Vacchiano, Baas "could be headed to IR." RG Chris Snee will join him there, at least allowing the Giants to get some continuity on their offensive line instead of shuffling different players in and out each week. James Brewer will be the new right guard. Jim Cordle is starting at center.
