Coach Dan Campbell said Friday that Swift (shoulder) is "maybe a week away" from retaking the field.
EDGE Analysis
It was reported earlier this week that Swift could miss multiple games with an AC join sprain in his shoulder, so it's not a major surprise the team isn't expecting him to play Sunday against the Vikings. The 22-year-old should be officially ruled out later Friday when the Lions release their final Week 13 injury report. Jamaal Williams is poised to step into the lead role in Detroit's backfield in the meantime, with Jermar Jefferson and Godwin Igwebuike available as the depth options.

Swift (shoulder) was a non-participant in Thursday's practice.
EDGE Analysis
Detroit hasn't officially ruled Swift out for Sunday's game against the Vikings, but his consecutive absences from practice to begin Week 13 prep seemingly backs up Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com's report from Wednesday suggesting the running back could miss multiple weeks. According to Fowler, Swift is contending with an AC joint sprain of his shoulder, and given the 0-10-1 Lions' status as the only non-contender in a jam-packed NFC playoff picture, the organization could take a cautious approach with its top back. Expect the Lions to formally rule Swift out for Sunday's game following Friday's practice, positioning Jamaal Williams to step into a lead role out of the backfield.

Swift (shoulder) could miss multiple games, though he wants to return in short order, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This could be a case where team and player don't quite see eye-to-eye, with the winless Lions unlikely to rush one of their few core players back into action before his shoulder heals. Swift hasn't been ruled out, but it does seem more likely than not by the end of the week, with Jamaal Williams then in line for a lead role Sunday against the Broncos. Behind Williams, the Lions have rookie back Jermar Jefferson and 27-year-old journeyman Godwin Igwebuike on the active roster, or Craig Reynolds on the practice squad. Swift isn't practicing Wednesday, per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell said Monday that "it's hard to see" Swift (shoulder) playing against the Vikings this weekend, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Swift sprained his shoulder in the Lions' 16-14 loss to the Bears on Thanksgiving Day, with the injury preventing him from returning for the second half of the contest. He's still feeling sore four days later, and Campbell acknowledged the running back will have a tough time gaining clearance for the Week 13 contest. While the Lions likely won't make an official call on Swift's status until after their final practice of the week Friday, Jamaal Williams tentatively looks in line to serve as Detroit's lead back for at least one game.

Coach Dan Campbell said Swift suffered a shoulder sprain during Thursday's 16-14 loss to the Bears, Adam Maya of NFL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Swift departed early in the second quarter and officially was ruled out at halftime of the contest, finishing Week 12 with a modest six touches for nine yards from scrimmage. Campbell said the Lions will take a "wait and see" approach with Swift's injury, which appears to be an aggravation of the shoulder issue that he picked up during a Week 10 tie at Pittsburgh. With Swift sidelined, Jamaal Williams took 15 carries for 65 yards and hauled in all five targets for 18 yards.

Swift (shoulder) will not return to Thursday's game against the Bears.
EDGE Analysis
With Swift ruled out for the rest of the contest, Jamaal Williams now is in line to head the Lions backfield in his absence. Swift now will target a potential return to action Week 13, when Detroit faces Minnesota on Sunday, Dec. 5.

Swift was forced out of Thursday's game against the Bears with a shoulder injury.
EDGE Analysis
Prior to his exit from the contest, Swift had recorded three carries for zero yards and caught three passes for nine yards. In his absence, Jamaal Williams is next up for the Lions' backfield work versus Chicago.

Swift recorded 14 carries for 136 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 13-10 loss to the Browns. He added three receptions for zero yards.
EDGE Analysis
Swift had only four carries for 11 yards in the first half, though he came alive in the final two quarters. The highlight came on a 57-yard touchdown rush late in the third quarter, though he also added gains of 19, 13 and 12 yards to rack up production. After failing to top 51 yards on the ground in any game heading into a Week 10 matchup against Pittsburgh, Swift has now combined to produce 266 yards and two scores on the ground in two contests since. Even more encouraging is Swift's production compared to Jamaal Williams, who returned from a two-game absence to tally only seven carries for 11 yards.

Swift (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Cleveland, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Lions are now listing him with a shoulder injury rather than a groin issue, but it shouldn't make much difference as Swift prepares to suit up for a 10th time in 10 games. He does run into a few potential problems this week, with Tim Boyle likely replacing Jared Goff (oblique) at quarterback and Jamaal Williams (questionable - thigh) potentially rejoining the Detroit backfield after a two-game absence. That said, Swift was getting far more work than Williams even before the veteran was injured, and regardless of the mess around him Swift has been one of the more consistent RBs for fantasy production this year.

Swift (shoulder) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
EDGE Analysis
Though Swift's shoulder injury has now capped his reps in consecutive practices, the Lions haven't hinted that the issue will prevent the running back from suiting up Sunday in Cleveland. Swift took advantage of No. 2 back Jamaal Williams' (thigh) absence in last week's 16-16 tie with the Steelers to handle a season-high 36 touches (33 carries, three receptions) on a season-high 93 percent snap share, but look for Swift to take a step back in both areas Week 11 in Cleveland. Like Swift, Williams practiced on a limited basis for the second day in a row Thursday and appears to be on a path to play against the Browns.
