Cook (shoulder) is slated to practice Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
This will mark Cook's first practice of the summer, and while it remains to be seen if he'll be a full participant, the running back's return to the field has him on track to be ready for Week 1. As the coming season approaches, Cook is in line to work in tandem with Breece Hall, who is working his way back from an ACL tear that he suffered last October. Assuming both backs are available, some form of a time-share figures to be in play initially as the Jets ease Hall into action out of the gate.

Cook (shoulder) is not in line to play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Giants, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The same applies to fellow RB Breece Hall, who continues to work his way back from an ACL tear that he suffered last October. With Israel Abanikanda sidelined by a thigh injury, Michael Carter, Zonovan Knight and Travis Dye are available to handle carries versus the Giants. Then once the regular season approaches, Cook -- who is bouncing back from a shoulder issue -- and Hall figure to lead the team's backfield, but how the carries might be distributed early on remains to be seen, given that both players are coming back from injuries.

Cook (shoulder) is working on the side field at practice Thursday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cook may soon leave team facilities and fly home to South Florida for the birth of his first child, but he would then rejoin the Jets shortly. The veteran running back has been busy in meetings and observing practice since officially signing with New York on Monday, but rehab from offseason surgery has prevented Cook from participating in on-field activities yet. Meanwhile, Breece Hall (knee) came off the PUP list Tuesday and is being eased into action.

Cook (shoulder) observed practice and attended meetings Wednesday after officially signing with the Jets earlier in the day, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cimini notes that Cook will soon fly home to South Florida for the birth of his first child, then return to the team next week. The report adds that the running back won't practice for about a week as he continues to recover from February shoulder surgery. Cimini previously relayed that the Jets plan to limit the early-season workload of Breece Hall (knee), and in such a scenario, the team wold lean more heavily on Cook over the first few weeks. Beyond Cook and Hall, the Jets also have Michael Carter, Zonovan Knight and rookie Israel Abanikanda on hand at running back.

Cook (shoulder), who signed a one-year contract with the Jets on Monday, is at least one week away from being able to practice with his new team, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cook is nearing the end of his recovery from February shoulder surgery, and it looks like the Jets want to ensure he's ready to go before he begins participating at camp. Once he enters the fray, the 28-year-old will provide depth to a backfield that includes Breece Hall, who is in the final stages his recovery from an ACL tear suffered Week 7 of last season. Should Hall ultimately not be ready for the season opener, Cook would likely be the team's lead running back, with Michael Carter right behind him.

The Jets and Cook (shoulder) agreed to terms of a one-year contract Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Only hours after Ezekiel Elliott signed with the Patriots, another running back domino has fallen with Cook signing with an AFC West rival. The Vikings officially released Cook on June 9 after being unable to find a trade partner, and after visiting with the Jets early on in training camp, his expected landing spot has come to pass. In New York, he'll join forces with former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and provide depth to a backfield that rosters Breece Hall, who is the final stages of his recovery from the torn ACL that he sustained Week 7 of last season. If Hall isn't healthy for the season opener, Cook, a four-time Pro Bowler, likely will be the lead runner for the Jets, followed by Michael Carter.

Cook (shoulder) had a meeting with the Jets and watched practice from the sidelines Sunday, Dennis Waszak of The State Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cook, who remains a free agent after being released by the Vikings, said before his visit that the chances he signs with New York are "pretty high," but it's unclear if a formal offer was made over the weekend. Both sides have expressed interest, but the Jets may be proceeding cautiously given Cook's recent shoulder surgery. Head coach Robert Saleh called Sunday's visit a "meet and greet," as the running back chatted with several players, including long-time rival Aaron Rodgers, and was showered with positive remarks by the Jets' faithful while he observed practice.

Cook (shoulder), who is slated visit to the Jets this weekend, said Friday that he thinks the chances he signs with New York are "pretty high," Nick Shook of NFL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
While other teams could remain in the mix to sign the free-agent running back, Cook expressed optimism Friday in his appearance on NFL Network's "Good Morning Football" that he'll be able to work out a deal with the Jets. If Cook does in fact join New York, he would provide quality depth and experience to a backfield that currently features Breece Hall (knee) -- who is making his way back from surgery to repair a torn ACL -- Michael Carter, Israel Abanikanda and Zonovan Knight.

New York is hosting Cook (shoulder) for a visit this weekend, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cook, who was released by the Vikings back in June, has popularly been linked to the Jets due to the team's addition of veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and the ongoing recovery of top running back Breece Hall (knee) from an ACL injury. Rodgers is fresh off agreeing to a re-worked deal with New York on Wednesday, which essentially frees up $33.715 million from the $108.715 million he was owed on his prior deal with the Packers. That pay cut could make it easier for the Jets to maneuver their salary cap to add additional veterans such as Cook, a four-time Pro Bowler and former NFC North division rival of Rodgers.

The Vikings officially released Cook (shoulder) on Friday, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was reported Thursday that Cook had been informed of his release, but the Vikings waited 24 hours to see if they could engineer a last-minute trade. The move will save Minnesota at least $9 million in cap space in 2023, and the four-time Pro Bowler is now free to sign with any team. The soon-to-be 28-year-old running back has finished with at least 1,000 rushing yards in four straight seasons and has 52 career touchdowns, but he's currently rehabbing from shoulder surgery, though he's expected to be fully healthy by the start of the 2023 campaign. Cook figures to have plenty of suitors on the open market, but the Dolphins and Broncos appear to be the most interested.
